The Penang Island region
Penang is the oldest British Settlement in Malaysia,and many grand colonial buildings can still be found. Francis Light stepped ashore here in 1786 on the site of Fort Cornwallis,which is a main attraction. Many of the buildings are marked with signs of their History and significance. Why not visit the Victoria Memorial clocktower, a gleaming white tower,topped by a Moorish Dome. Donated by a local Chinese millionaire to honour Queen Victoria,s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. It stands 18m(60feet) tall 1 foot for each year of her Reign.
The film "Anna and the King" was filmed in Malaysia, and many locations were used in and around Penang. There are photos of the Dapper Clan Elders taking tea with Jodie Foster at the Khoo Kongsi(the Dragon mountain hall). This building is a colourful mix of Dragons,statues,paintings,lamps,coloured tiles and Carvings. You can find it on Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling.
Penang Hill rising 830m above Georgetown provides a cool retreat from the sticky heat below. From the summit there is a spectacular view over the island and across to the mailnland. It can be reached by a funicular railway system, and the trip takes 30 minutes.
The Kek Lok Si Temple is a must see. This is the largest Buddhist Temple in Malaysia and stands on a hill top at Air Itam, near Penang Hill. It took more than 20 years to complete. There is a 7 Tier Tower (30m) for you to climb. The Temple is extremely ornate and makes a wonderful photo shoot.
The Capital Georgetown, is a great place to shop. you can purchase anything from art antiques and curios. Copies of brand names ie watches handbags. Be sure to bargain hard and get your budget price.There is pewter, Jewellery, basketware and many other handicrafts. Experience Little India situated in Lebuh Pasar, with its spices and saris, temples and restaurants. Here you can find Tamils from South India cooling boiled milk by nonchalantly hurling it through the air from 1 cup to another.
Georgetown is your culinary delight. It has a big selection of street stalls, with nightly gatherings at the Seafront Esplanade food centre. The delightful sea breeze here, helps you consume delicious servings of Penang Specialalities. Gurney Drive is another popular seafront venue.
The Gurney Drive Plaza shopping Mall, is a new style shopping experience, with all your home from home Favourites, incl Starbucks, Macdonalds, KFC and coffee Bean. Also on the lower floor some interesting local eateries.
There is a great night life in and around the Eastern and Oriental Hotel for the late nighters, and brilliant live music and disco at "Slippery Senioritas". With great cocktails and Tapas you can dance the night away till 3am.
Batu Ferringhi / Miami Bay area
Batu Ferrighi situated about 15 minutes from the capital, is a picturesque stretch of small coves and more beaches. Foreigners Rock as it is translated, has a host of big Resort Hotels, tourist shops and restaurants, as well as an incredible night market. Dont worry about presents for back home, because you will find everything here.
During the daylight hours, you can stroll the wonderful beaches, and go horseback riding, Jet Skiing, Parasailing, water skiing and jump on the banana ride. There are lots and lots of little beach side cafes for your Beers and coffees and tea and burgers and fries, and hot spicy noodles. You can just fall asleep under a big tree or, catch up on your new novel. The sunsets here can be spectacular, so just sit back in your favourite cafe and watch it go down.
There are numerous little fishing villages, for you to visit and its great to see the locals bringing their catch in from the night before. They have stalls on the seaside selling fresh fish There is a Forest Recreation park which has gentle trails through the jungle where you can see a few small waterfalls. You can visit the Penang Butterfly Park with a few thousand butterflies representing over 50 species. Not far from here there is an Orchid Farm and a craft batik factory.
The culinary delights along this stretch, hit the imagination, with wonderful seafood (crabs, fresh fish, giant prawns. Here also is one of the best places in Malaysia to try Nyonya Cuisine. This style of cooking using Chinese ingredients and local spices such as lemon grass and coconut cream. Try the Laksa Penang and treat your taste buds. There are western style Restaurants, Indian, Chinese, Malay, Italian. You will not be hungry here.
The night market comes alive after dark, and it stretches on and on. You will find everything here from CD,s DVD,s brand label, copy watches, handbags, light cotton clothes, beachwear, antiques, curios, coins, old notes, handicrafts. It is great to stand here and bargain with all the stall owners who will evetually agree with your budget price,
How to get there
Penang international airport is served by Malaysia Airlines, Singapore airlines, Japan airlines, Cathay pacific, KLM. You can also fly direct to Kuala Lumpur, and catch a budget Airline, Air Asia, which has 3 flights per day direct to Penang. Miama Bay is 30 klms from the airport, and there are many affordable Local taxis, or mini buses. You can hire a car from the airport. There are trains and buses, from Kuala Lumpur to Penang.

Further details indoors: The Condo is fully air conditioned, and the sea breezes make for a very cooling interior. All the bedrooms have Queen size beds and plenty of storage space. The Unit has been very tastefully furnished, and has satelite TV, with 3 sports channels, BBC World, CNN, and movie channels. The Kitchen has all the necessary appliances including washing machine and microwave, and the convenience store stocks all your bsic food items. Linen and Towels are all provided, along with cutlery, pots and pans, cooking items, crockery and glasses.
There will be some toys and games provided, and we will provide you with a welcome pack.
Further details outdoors: There is a beautiful big swimming pool, for your enjoyment, and you can sun bathe on the deck chairs provided. Large Parosals are available to keep you shaded. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi are set in a exquisite Tropical Garden with waterfalls and ornate fountains. Why not play a game of Tennis or work out in the fully equipped Gymnasium. Maybe just relax in the sauna (separate men and womens). Enjoy a peaceful stroll, along one of the many beaches, where you might want to jump on a Jet Ski, for some thrill seeking.
Your Children can enjoy the playground and their own pool with water slide. Why not have a BBQ in the evening, and enjoy the sun going down over the ocean.

Long term lets are available with discounts. Details on request. You can book by Fax Telephone or Email. 25% deposit is required on booking, with the remainder payable 14 days before arrival. We accept Sterling payments and also Malaysian Ringgit. A 100 Pounds Sterling deposit is required, for breakages and damages,and keys and security pass. Deposit will be refunded within 14 days of departure.
