About this location
The Somerset region
Few places in Europe can rival the ancient monuments and stunning landscapes of nearby Wiltshire. Within the Wiltshire Downs lie the ancient monuments of Stonehenge and Avebury Stone Circle. Salisbury Cathedral, with its soaring spire is another major international attraction while historical houses and gardens ensure there is something to interest everyone.
Attractions for children include STEAM, the Great Western Railway Museum, Bowood Adventure Playground and attractions at Longleat.
Good transport links to nearby Bristol and Oxford.
The city of Bath dates back to Roman times, Romans drawn to the site to relax by Britian's only Hot Springs and their reputed healing powers.
Most of the buildings in present day Bath are constructed from a luscious honey-coloured stone, constructed largely during the Georgian era. It was the ideal retreat from London life, ideal to relax and 'take the waters'.
Modern Bath is at the forefront of art and culture with many exhibitions, concerts and performances throughout the year. It is also known for tourism and shopping.
Attractions include the Royal Crescent and Bath Abbey.

"Good base for exploring bath and somerset"
Nice space with balcony and hot tub although the village is lacking in most amenities. Lovely community shop and cafe across the roundabout in bathford though. And great pub to walk to in bathampton. … More
Batheaston village has, in my opinion, got reasonably good facilities. Excellent bus services into Bath, a Medical centre & chemist, a small mini supermarket for every day requirements, a hairdresser, a vet, a fish and chip shop/cafe, a childrens playground, two pubs and a gym. For a Village that size Im not sure how much more people want?
Regarding traffic noise, yes at certain times of the day the road does get busy but we are situated within a 10 min drive of the City and I like to think we have the best of both worlds, Riverside setting with views across a nature reserve, lovely walks in the local area - Salisbury Hill with views right across the City but not off the beaten track and miles from any facilities. I dont advertise the property as being in a quiet, tranquil country setting but with the whole property double glazed no one ever complains of noise.
All the positive comments much appreciated but I feel i have to disagree about the comments regarding the local facilities.
