Bradford on Avon
Teasle Cottage is in the heart of Bradford on Avon yet tucked away in a quiet haven, which is one of the most picturesque towns in Wiltshire. It is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds and dates back to the tenth century.
In the tenth century a community settled on the ’Broad Ford’ of the Avon, which is where the name Bradford on Avon originates. The beautiful Norman bridge is a predominant feature of the town with the stone building originally a chapel on the middle – which latterly became a jail. The Church of St Lawrence is one of the best preserved Saxon Churches in England. The impressive fourteenth century Tithe Barn should not be missed, used by the landowners to collect ‘tythes’ or taxes from the people of Bradford on Avon. There is much more to see and do in Bradford on Avon during your visit.
Bradford on Avon has a wealth of privately owned shops and restaurants which helps to enhance your stay and not to be missed. Walk or cycle the river and canal and lap up the amazing countryside.
