A passionate life story unfolds at this glamorous 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom Georgian town house for 8 (and up to 10) guests in Bath's beautiful city centre. Home to famous historic resident, the alluring Lady Emma Hamilton, an English beauty, style icon and the great love of Admiral Horatio Nelson, this romantic house tells her incredible rags- to- riches story with warmth and charm.

Capturing Lady Emma Hamilton's beauty, and passion for grand living, this handsome house has classic Georgian features with high ceilings, elegant sash windows, elaborate marble and cast iron fire places and broad staircases. Richly furnished throughout with sumptuous fabrics, glittering mirrors and charming pictures, this lovely house combines contemporary comforts with dramatic style.

A smart ground floor entrance with broad stairs leads to the grand first floor living and dining room with traditional Georgian wedding doors opening to a splendid kitchen. There are three plush velvet sofas to seat 8, a couple pouf stools and a large TV and DVD over an elaborate marble fireplace. Long extending dining tables can seat at least 10. Pictures of Lady Hamilton and her lover Nelson, gaze from the walls opposite lavish papered alcoves reflected in vast mirrors. A gold dresser holds an I-pod player (with adapter for other devices) along with extra table-ware and a selection of films.

The large fitted kitchen is topped with a black and gold granite and a central island with a large 5-ring hob at the center has 4 bar stools for drinks or treats. There is an oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer combined, large fridge and separate freezer. Cupboards are generously stocked with crockery and cooking implements should you wish to cater for a large gathering.

On a half-landing heading up is a smart cloakroom with hand basin and WC.

On the Second Floor is a lovely master bedroom and impressive master bathroom. The spacious and romantic bedroom, representing the story of Emma's life in Naples, married to Sir William Hamilton, has 3 large sash windows overlooking Edward Street and a decorative fireplace with carved gold mirror over. Two 3' beds zip and link to become a 6' double. There is a chest of drawers and dressing table with a wardrobe in an alcove cupboard. A large double sofa-bed and coffee table are comfortably positioned by a large TV with DVD and a selection of films.

The stylish black and white bathroom has a large central free-standing bathtub with shower hand set. On either side of an original fireplace, are two hand-basins with storage under. There is also a large shower, a WC and a fitted storage cupboard.

On the Third Floor are three further bedrooms and a bathroom. At the top of the stairs is a selection of books. The bedrooms subtly tell Emma's life story. One bedroom in rich walnut colours with an original cast iron fire-place, has two 3' zip and link beds that can become a 6' double, an oak chest, a wardrobe and an easy chair with side table. It tells of Emma's humble beginnings as Amy Lyon, the daughter of a poor farrier.

The next bedroom in russet stripes, has two 3' zip and link beds that can become a 6' double, a chest of drawers, wall hooks only for clothing and a plush stool. This room describes her life as young Emma, a maid, tavern girl and dancer in London.

The final bedroom on this floor is black and silver with an original fireplace, a 5' bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe, easy chair and side table. It represents her rise to fame to become Emma Hart, a respectable and frequently painted London Lady.

A smart bathroom on this floor has a large shower, hand-basin with storage under and WC.

The West Country region

Bath & the Best of the West!

The attractions of the World Heritage City of Bath, are well-known, but Bath is also a perfect base from which to explore the picturesque West Country of England. Located close to the M4 and M5 motorways, 1.5 hours by train from London and just over half an hour from Bristol International Airport, Bath is surrounded by several designated areas of outstanding natural beauty and many of the region's attractions can be reached within a short journey time from the city.

One firm family favourite is Longleat, owned by the Marquis of Bath and set in 900 acres of landscaped parkland. Longleat Safari Park is home to the famous Lions of Longleat and a full day of fun is guaranteed, as this attraction boasts not just the safari, but a maze, adventure park, Jungle Express and much more.

Heading slightly further west is the cathedral city of Wells with its narrow streets, abundance of historic buildings such as the moated Bishop's Palace and lively twice-weekly market. In the same direction you will find Cheddar Caves and Gorge where the world-renowned Cheddar cheese is made and the caves of Wookey Hole, home of the legendary Witch of Wookey – great for a rainy day underground adventure!

En route from Bath to Wells, you should not miss the mystical Glastonbury Tor, one of the most spiritual sites in the UK. Steeped in history and legend, the climb to the top is well worth the effort for the views across the Somerset Levels.

World famous Glastonbury Festival needs little introduction, however, it's always worth checking out what's on at The Royal Bath & West Showground on the outskirts of Shepton Mallet which hosts anything from antiques fairs to The Royal Bath & West Show.

To the south east of Bath lies Stonehenge, a majestic stone circle that has been the subject of much speculation ranging from how it was built to ceremonial significance. Audio tours are available on entry and it retains its magic whatever the season, but particularly around the summer and winter solstices. Around 25 miles away is Avebury, considered by many to be the most impressive of all remaining pre-historic earthworks in Europe.

For outdoor enthusiasts there is a wealth of walks, cycle rides and boating opportunities with cycle and canoe hire readily available. Bath is an ideal base for sporting aficionados, whether as spectators or participants when attending events such as rugby or football matches, Badminton Horse Trials, Castle Combe Circuit or perhaps taking a trip down to the coast where you will find Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, where the sailing events for the 2012 Olympics were held.

Last but by no means least, neighbouring Bristol with its iconic suspension bridge, floating harbour, SS Great Britain, vibrant street life and home to famous street artist, Banksy, should not be missed.

Whatever your taste, stay with Bath Holiday Rentals and our helpful, knowledgeable staff will assist you in planning your perfect stay in the West Country.
