The West Country region
Bradford on Avon is within the County of Wiltshire within the West Country. There are many interesting places to visit within the surrounding area – too numerous to mention here. Bath is only 8 miles away and can be reached from the town by train (15 mins) or bus (30 mins). Other popular attractions include Longleat, Lacock, Bowood House, Stonehenge, Avebury, Malmesbury. In fact there’s something that caters for every interest.
Bradford on Avon is steeped in history dating back to Roman times but owes much of its prosperity and beautiful architecture to the wool trade. Today visitors enjoy visiting the market town to explore the historic buildings, interesting shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs which are scattered around the narrow streets. It is a true pleasure to sit in one of the cafes in the middle of town with a cappuccino and watch the world go by. The Avon and Kennet Canal which played an essential role in the wool trade now offers visitors many opportunities whether it be by foot, bicycle or even boat to experience the beautiful countryside.
For those who enjoy a round of golf, Cumberwell Park Golf Club (www.cumberwellpark.com) is within 5 minutes drive, providing 4 separate 9 holes each of different character suitable for golfers of all abilities. Booking of tee times is recommended.

"A home away from home"
Really cannot rate this property highly enough. We stayed for 3 evenings at the Providence Chapel and used it as a base to visit local attractions such as Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury etc. Each evening it was a lovely place to return to and the owners have really thought of everything to make your stay very comfortable. We can't wait to return soon.
Your review is much appreciated and I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. It will be a pleasure to welcome you back! Best wishes, Jan

"Spacious and delightful period cottage in peacefull location"
The family stayed together in Providence Chapel over the Christmas week and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. The cottage is extremely well equipped and very tastefully decorated in a quiet location, but only a walk away from the centre of Bradford on Avon. For a two bedroom cottage, it is very spacious and comfortable. The hosts, Jan and John, have amazing attention to detail and this made the week very special for all of us, a real home from home. They even provided a fully decorated Christmas Tree !!
I am pleased the spacious accommodation at Providence Chapel provided such a good place for you to celebrate Christmas with your family - it will be a pleasure to welcome you back! Best wishes for 2014, Jan

"A lovely, comfortable home away from home. Highly recommended!"
This converted chapel in beautiful Bradford-on-Avon is clean, modern and sleeps a family of 4. Our teenagers had plenty of space and felt very much at home here. Kitchen and bathrooms contemporary. Has a washing machine (doubles as a dryer) - a must for a travelling family! Recommend day out: walk down the hill into Bradford-on-Avon via Newtown, cream tea at the Bridge Tea Rooms (open fire upstairs), explore Saxon Church, walk along river to the Tythe Barn, canal barge cruise, dinner after along the canal or on walk back to chapel at either The Dandy Lion or The Castle Inn. Plenty to do in surrounding area - Bath, Stonehenge, Avebury just to name a few. Home-made slice and bottle of wine a lovely welcoming touch! Attention: this property has 2 flights of stairs.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I hope we can welcome you to Providence Chapel in the near future. Best wishes, Jan
