Home description

Providence Baptist Chapel was originally converted into 2 separate dwellings in 1985. One of these dwellings has recently been lovingly refurbished to provide a self-catering home of style and comfort. According to the history books it was a popular place of worship for many years becoming a children’s nursery before being converted into residential status. The museum in the town is home to the original pulpit. Visitors are able to walk into town within 10 minutes but unfortunately the return journey always takes slightly longer as there is a steep hill to climb!

We want you to relax and enjoy your stay in Providence Chapel – all linen/towels are included in the price as are gas and electricity. We provide a welcome pack, which includes essentials such as milk, tea, coffee, bread, local eggs and fruit as well as a homemade cake and a bottle of wine. We want you to feel ‘on holiday’ as soon as you step through the chapel door!

The West Country / Somerset region

Bradford on Avon is within the County of Wiltshire within the West Country. There are many interesting places to visit within the surrounding area – too numerous to mention here. Bath is only 8 miles away and can be reached from the town by train (15 mins) or bus (30 mins). Other popular attractions include Longleat, Lacock, Bowood House, Stonehenge, Avebury, Malmesbury. In fact there’s something that caters for every interest.

Bath / Bradford on Avon area

Bradford on Avon is steeped in history dating back to Roman times but owes much of its prosperity and beautiful architecture to the wool trade. Today visitors enjoy visiting the market town to explore the historic buildings, interesting shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs which are scattered around the narrow streets. It is a true pleasure to sit in one of the cafes in the middle of town with a cappuccino and watch the world go by. The Avon and Kennet Canal which played an essential role in the wool trade now offers visitors many opportunities whether it be by foot, bicycle or even boat to experience the beautiful countryside.

For those who enjoy a round of golf, Cumberwell Park Golf Club (www.cumberwellpark.com) is within 5 minutes drive, providing 4 separate 9 holes each of different character suitable for golfers of all abilities. Booking of tee times is recommended.

How to get there

By air, Bristol International Airport (21 miles). By train to Bradford on Avon. By road via the M4 J17 or 18.

Ground floor

Lounge, equipped with TV, DVD, gas “wood burner”. Kitchen/diner with new fitted kitchen (washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer). Cloakroom.

First floor-Master bedroom with double bed. Shower room with WC and washbasin. Small dressing room, which leads up to:

There is a small patio area at the front of the chapel and there is off street parking approximately 50 yards away from the building.

Please note that Providence Chapel is non-smoking and we regret that children under the age of 12 and pets are unable to stay.
