Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
This newly restored and very stylish Georgian apartment for 2 (or 3 with sofa bed), with large garden and private parking, makes for a handsome city residence. This splendid building was part of a grand terrace planned by Thomas Baldwin around 1795. Tall sash windows with working shutters overlook a beautiful city landmark which is fabulously illuminated at night. It`s a grand affair with lofty ceilings, ornate cornicing, decorative marble fire-places and table-tops, gorgeous mirrors and comfortable contemporary furnishings. Just a short 5 minute level walk along one of Bath`s most splendid avenues to the city centre with impressive views of Bath`s famous architecture at every step, and Jane Austen a former resident next door (from 1801 to 1805). Newly renovated in 2013 this property has received a 4 star gold from Quality and Tourism.
The glamorous living room has a 2-seater sofa (that can be used as a sofa-bed), and an armchair, in front of a TV with DVD, along with a selection of films and games. A dining table seats 4 and marble desk has wi-fi and radio/ipod/ipad docking.
The peaceful bedroom continues the classic theme with a large carved mirror over a marble fire-place. The large 6` superking double bed is a zip and link that can become two singles should you prefer. There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers and a decorative shelf with a selection of novels.
The smartly tiled bathroom has a bath with shower over, a hand-basin with storage under and a WC.
Past the lobby and along a short corridor is a well equipped contemporary blue and cream fitted kitchen. Inside is an electric hob and oven, a large fridge and separate freezer, small dishwasher and a washing machine combined with a dryer. A glazed door opens to a small boot room and utility with another door into a large courtyard private garden. Secure double gates screen a large parking area for 1 car.
The beautiful Holburne Museum of Art was originally designed as the Sydney Hotel and was built by Charles Harcourt Masters in 1796. It was a social gathering place within the Sydney Pleasure gardens which stretch from the road to the Kennet and Avon Canal. You can play tennis on the public courts or walk/bike along the scenic canal towpath for lovely views of Bath. For Bath Narrow boats and Bath Bike Hire tel. 01225 447276
