The West Country / Somerset region

Somerset is a rural county of rolling hills such as the Mendip Hills, Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, and large flat expanses of land including the Somerset Levels. There is evidence of human occupation from Neolithic times, and subsequent settlement in the Roman and Saxon periods. Later, the county played a significant part in the consolidation of power and rise of King Alfred the Great, the English Civil War and the Monmouth Rebellion.
Agriculture is a major business in the county. Farming of sheep and cattle, including for wool and the county's famous cheeses, are traditional and contemporary, as is the more unusual cultivation of willow for basketry. Apple orchards were once plentiful, and to this day Somerset is known for the production of strong cider. Unemployment is lower than the national average, and the largest employment sectors are retail, manufacturing, tourism, and health and social care. Population growth in the county is higher than the national average.
Bath is centrally located to access the Cotswolds and the Mendips. There are famous prehistoric and heritage sites within an hour in all directions including Stonehenge, Avebury, Glastonbury and Wales.

Guestbook for Canton Place Apartment
“My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to find such a lovely and elegantly furnished apartment with a garage right in Bath. The apartment had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and relaxing.” Helen from Sydney, Australia
“We spent a wonderful week in Bath thanks to this very cosy apartment in Canton Place, London Road. All rooms were appropriately spacious, bright and very well equipped. We didn't miss anything. Also its location is totally convenient, 10 to 15minutes walk to Bath Abbey, about the same to George street, and approximately 20 minutes walk to Bath Spa train station and main bus station, but all in walking distance. Bath isn't that big at all and still very lovely!” Luise from Berlin
“The flat was clean and very well presented and having the single room with three of us suited our needs for the two day stay. We were out sightseeing all day and coming back to such a comfortable accomodation was so relaxing. I shall certainly keep the address for future occasions.” Dil from Preston
