From the moment we arrived we just knew we were going to have a wonderful holiday. The cottage was everything we could have wished for, and Jan had provided us with everything we needed, plus those little extras we were not expecting! Loved the 'walled garden' and surprisingly (after all, it was October) we had lovely sunny weather and no rain! So breakfast outside was the order of the day. Not far to walk to the garage/shop for papers and supplies (or took the car), and that was open 24 hours! What struck us too was how quiet and peaceful Beckington was. An ideal village, with a bypass to take all that heavy traffic away, yet only a short drive from several major towns. There was a lovely delicatessen/tea rooms a few yards away in the village, and a couple of pubs too. We like 'chef cooked food', and we found an abundance of restaurants both in Frome and Bradford-on-Avon, and numerous 'gourmet pubs' in the surrounding villages. There was plenty to do. A couple of Country Parks close by, with walks round lakes and in woods; and the canal not far away either. We even managed a boat trip on the canal. Very relaxing! And even managed a show at the Theatre in Frome. And then there was Bath with all its attractions right on our doorstep. So, lovely cottage, lovely countryside, and a quiet relaxing holiday! Response: Your review is much appreciated, thank you so much for taking the time to write your comments about Well Cottage. It sounds as though you made the very most of the area and we look forward to welcoming you again in the very near future. Thank you for your booking. Best wishes, Jan |

A wonderful, welcoming cottage with lots of atmosphere. Very clean, immaculately presented and well furnished; our daughter keeps talking about the wonderful bed! Very short walking distance to the Woolpack Inn which has excellent food and drink and turned out to be one of the highlights of our UK visit. Beckington is also a lovely village - check out the church and listen for the bell ringing on Thursday evenings. The road outside the cottage is pretty quiet despite being the road to Bath and we had good sleep every night. Definitely not suitable for anybody who cannot walk up steep stairs though. Response: Thank you so much for such a lovely review of Well Cottage. You are quite right, the road is quiet but is no longer the main road to Bath, having been by-passed some 20 years ago, which has ensured the village retains a calm atmosphere. The stairs do have fairly steep risers and for that reason we do not recommend for the elderly but they are straight, which is unusual for a cottage! It does help our potential guests to know this and thank you again for taking the time to leave a review, it is very much appreciated and we hope you will become one of our regular guests. Best wishes, Jan |
