Situated on a working farm, Pembroke Cottage is a cosy and sympathetic barn conversion property attached to the original 17th century farm house. Pembroke Cottage benefits from original exposed beams throughout, picturesque Lake District views from most the windows and to add to the true Lake District experience, the property is fed with Lakeland spring water.
Pembroke Cottage is the ideal self-catering accommodation for walkers, as it is located on a quiet country road with Skiddaw literally on the door step; thus providing walking routes which start directly from the front door.
Pembroke Cottage is located close to the Lake District village of Bassenthwaite and the market town of Keswick. Bassenthwaite village has a charming pub offering great food while Keswick consists of various shops, galleries, points of interest, restaurants and much more.

Entrance hall: Entrance into the property via the front door leads into the entrance hall which has stairs to the lower ground floor, first floor living area and bathroom.
Family Bathroom: with bath and electric shower over, toilet and wash basin.
Lower Ground Floor
Double Bedroom: with double bed, bedside cabinets and wardrobe.
Twin Bedroom: with two single beds, bedside cabinet, wardrobe and wash basin.
Kitchen: The kitchen comes complete with electric hob and oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster, in addition to a range of other kitchen equipment including cutely, crockery etc.
Living Area: Adjacent to the kitchen area is the spacious open plan living area with comfortable seating, digital TV, coal effect electric fire and panoramic vistas overlooking the neighbouring farm fields towards the fells. The separate dining area has table with seating for four.

Outside is a yard with bench and a garden shared with the neighbouring property The Cottage. Parking is available for one car.
All bed linen, towels and electricity are provided. Pets are welcome and Cot and High Chair are available upon request (there is a small charge applied for these).
The Cumbria/Lake District
Cumbria is home to the Lake District, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland is world renowned for the beautiful lakes and mountains (or fells). The Lake District is home to the highest mountain in England: Scafell Pike measuring 978m (3210 ft).
The National Park was founded in 1951 to offer protection to the well known beauty spots and landscape that has provided inspiration to generations of artists' writers and musicians.
From a stroll around Buttermere to a climb to the highest peak a holiday in the English lakes provides exercise for the body and relaxation for the mind.
Market towns such as Keswick and Cockermouth give the opportunity to sample the delights of Cumbrian fare many establishments now source their ingredients from local producers.
Whilst areas like Bowness on Windermere and Ambleside are extremely popular other less commercial locations like the Solway Coast and Allonby give you space and quiet with the vast open shingle beaches the majestic beauty of the Solway.

Bassenthwaite Lake is owned by the National Park Authority and is one of the largest measuring in at almost 4 miles long and ¾ mile wide; but also one of the shallowest with a maximum depth of around 70ft. Incidentally Bassenthwaite Lake is the only Lake District lake that has the word 'lake' in its proper title; with others having the word water or mere being substituted name for 'lake'. There has been speculation that Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent Water in Keswick were once one larger lake.
It is also said that Bassenthwaite Lake is home to the Eachy: a species of Lake Monster - a large humanoid being of gruesome and slimy appearance. The Eachy has been spotted as late as 1973 when it was photographed twice.
Bassenthwaite Village is located a short distance from Bassethwaite Lake; underneath the shadow of Skiddaw. This classic village has a small pub: The Sun Inn, village green and small stream running though it.
The Bassenthwaite area is also home to the Osprey with view points at Dodd Wood and the exhibition centre at Whinlatter Visitors Centre at Braithwaite. The Osprey; often known as the sea hawk is a fish eating bird of prey. Their nests at Bassenthwate were the first recorded osprey nests in England for more than 160 years. Running alongside western edge of Bassenthwaite Lake is the A66; with breathtaking views the laybys are popular spots for photographers and bird watchers looking for osprey.
There are a number of small villages in the surrounding area to Bassenthwaite including Bothel, Sunderland, Mealsgate and Braithwaite.
The Bassenthwaite area is the ideal location if you are looking to escape the busier central Lake District but still enjoy the emense beauty of the Lake District. Also located close by are the locations of Cockermouth, Keswick and Carlisle. Bassenthwaite is also within 30 mins drive to the beautiful Solway Coast and in less than one hour from the popular central Lake District locations: Ambleside, Grasmere and Bowness on Windermere. In addition to the locations there are a number of attractions within the Bassenthwaite area including: Trotters World of Animals and the historic family run Mirehouse and its gardens stretching from Dodd Wood to the Bassenthwaite Lake.

"A Lovely Escape"
Bit of a trek down a country lane, really quiet place to stay with good views over the countryside,homemade cakes and biscuits waiting for us when we arrived.We did alot of walking while we were there… More
