The Heart of England/Peak District

The Peak District and Derbyshire is a contrast of high rolling moorland, craggy outcrops and picture post card vales and valleys with ‘chocolate box' villages. The whole area is dominated by Britain's first national park; The Peak District National Park which has been catering for visitors for many years. It's easy to get around with a good network of roads and excellent public transport. There are many places of interest including some lovely towns and villages such as Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne as well as historical attractions like Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. To the north of the region is the High Peak, with miles of heather moorland and great country walks and cycling

The property is situated between Chesterfield and Bakewell close to the village of Baslow which acts as a meeting point of White Peak (limestone) and Dark Peak (millstone grit) making it ideal for walkers who are looking to explore a variety of countryside. The village has a good range of shops, restaurant and pubs and Bakewell is only five miles away where there are a wealth of other amenities and attractions. You can plan your days out at the Visitor Centre here which holds a wide range of books, leaflets and guides on the local area. Chatsworth House home of the Duke of Devonshire has hundreds of acres of grounds to explore, a gift shop, garden centre and open farm while the historic Haddon Hall is one of the finest English Country Estates in England. Walkers can enjoy the delights of the Upper Derwent Valley, the ‘White Peak' area and the millstone grit around Frogatt Edge all within a short drive of Temperance Croft.

"Best self catering accommodation I have ever stayed in."

The cottage was very well furnished with the best that the owners could possibly use.Everything was up to four star standard. The area was just what we were looking for, peaceful, and in the heart of our chosen area to visit. If you have a bus pass bring it with you, the public transport is first class and will save you car parking worries also giving the normal driver more chance to enjoy the scenery.
