About this location
The Lake District
South Cumbria is the gateway to the beautiful and impressive Lake District, with amazing mountains, perfect for walking and cycling holidays. Also within 20 minutes drive of the Yorkshire Dales, again excellent for walking, cycling, and outdoor persuits such as caving and potholing, as it is famous for limestone escarpments and rolling hills, compered to the rugged jagged mountains in the Lakes
The Burton in Kendal area has lovely fell land and a tranquil village, with great pubs and canal walks. From the top of the fell you can see the whole of Morecambe Bay, sometimes on a clear day as far as Blackpool tower, the Lakeland hills, and the Yorkshire Dales, including Ingleborough. Leighton Moss bird sanctuary is about 10 minutes drive away, with the famous starlings and bird life
