We were very pleasantly surprised on arriving at Riverside Cottage. The photo's do not really convey how quiet and accessible the river is from the rear of the property. Both relaxing on the patio area and taking a chair down to sit right on the bank were the real highlight of our week. The living space downstairs was alot more spacious than we expected and unlike some rentals we have been to is furnished to a very high, comfortable standard. The pool table was a real bonus and there were many other games/activities. The only reason for giving the property a 4 rather than a 5 was some traffic noise in the mornings and the top room had a feeling of being "seperate" due to the access (explicit in details). Two minor aspects that did not really affect the great week that we spent here as a family. |

The gite was well-equipped with everything we could need and was very clean and comfortable, the English television was an added bonus. The location by the riverside was lovely we spent many evenings just watching the ducks, egrets and even a musk rat. We had lovely weather for most of the 2 weeks we were there, hot and sunny with only the odd bit of rain. Marie-Claude, who looks after the gite, was very friendly and helpful with lots of suggestions of what to do and see. Barrou is well situated for all the attractions of the Loire valley, lots of chateaux and history, lovely contryside, excellent food and drink. |
Guestbook for Riverside Cottage
"We found the cottage to be very clean and well equipped. The fresh flowers and bottle of wine were a lovely touch. The cottage was delightful, in a beautiful location, and the village was charming, everyone was very friendly".

"Just a note to say how much we enjoyed our week in Barrou, the cottage was very comfy and we explored lots of places around including Chinon, La Roche Posay among others...."
Mr & Mrs Harding, Kent, England 07/08/10 - 14/08/10
"We had a lot of fun in your Barrou property, and we found it a good base for exploring locally. We went to Futuroscope, swimming in Descartes, market at La Roche Posay, animal park at La Haute Touche, the limestone mine at Loches and had a good look round the town there. As well as doing many other things locally. Barrou seems a nice, quiet little village, and your property is great set along by the river there".
Mr & Mrs Gibbons, Sussex, England 22/08/10 - 29/08/10
"We have enjoyed our stay in Barrou. It is a peaceful place and wonderful weather this week. We have travelled to many chateaux, so Barrou was very convenient for us, most sights within one hour or closer. It is great to come back to the cottage each evening and enjoy the peace and quiet on the terrace by the river."
Mr & Mrs Barron, Victoia, Australia 17/09/2010 - 25/09/2010
