Home description
Courtyard Cottage is a two bedroom annexe to grade II listed Plaistow Barton farmhouse which is listed in The Domesday book. Surrounded by rolling countryside the property offers wonderful tranquility but within easy reach of a wide variety of beach and countryside activities for all types of holidays.
Guests have access to a heated indoor swimming pool and childs pool for a small fee. The pool is located at a nearby small holiday complex of 8 cottages just a 5 minute drive from Courtyard Cottage.
Newly decorated and equipped for 2009, the cottage offers comfortable sleeping and seating for 4 guests. The lounge/Kitchen area with its large Inglenook fireplace and historic plaque dating back to 1679 is accessed by it's own private entrance. The two bedrooms are accessed by a beamed staircase and offers comfortable sleeping for four by way of a double room and a twin bedded room. The bathroom provides both bath and shower over with toilet and sink.
Outside, via the stable door, is your own private garden and BBQ area with access to the larger paddock for ball games.

North Devon is a truly magnificent part of the country to both live and holiday in. With some of the countries finest beaches and rural countryside, North Devon offers a range of interesting activities for all holiday makers. The combination of beach and countryside offers a variety of activities for everyone on all budgets.
The coastline can be rugged, with fantastic surf, fishing harbours and picturesque Devon villages offering the all important clotted-cream cream tea.
Barnstaple / Shirwell area
Within a short drive are are number of beautiful sandy beaches, suitable for bucket and spade holidays, surfing or dog walking. All of the beaches have cafe or restaurant facilities. Footpaths can be picked up close to Courtyard Cottage taking you across fields and wonderful rural countryside.
Alternatively, the coastal path offers some fantastic walking. For keen or holiday cyclists, the Tarka Trail offers great great cycling. Bikes can be hired locally or borrowed from the Cottage. The National Trust's Arlington Court is approx 20 minutes drive away and offers a wonderful period property and gardens to explore. Marwood Hill Gardens approx 10 minutes away and offer a haven for the keen gardener as does RHS Rosemore.
Close by is Broomhill Art Hotel and Sculpture Gardens offering fine dining and a range of contemporary bronze and stone sculptures. Also close by is Blakewell fisheries, ideal for the keen fly fisher or family entertainment or just a cup of tea in beautiful surroundings. Saunton Golf Club offers spectacular golf for keen golfers.
For rainy day activities perhaps try Funderzone, Ilfracombe's play hut, wonderful shopping in Exeter or Atlantic Village.
How to get there
Courtyard Cottage is easily accessible. Located just 6 km from Barnstaple, it can be accessed by the M5 (junction 27) or from Exeter the A377.
Exeter Airport is approx. 85km away and is served by budget airlines. Bristol airport is approx. 2 hours away by car.
