Threshing Barn,Lower Hearson
Barn | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
The Threshing Barn is situated on Lower Hearson Farm which is a small family run farm set in fifteen acres of gardens, field and woodland. Whether you want to relax with a book in the gardens surrounding the cottages, watch a DVD, help us feed the animals or just unwind in our rural haven here in North Devon there is something for you at Lower Hearson Farm. Tucked away in the heart of the North Devon countryside in a secluded valley full of wildlife, Lower Hearson Farm is perfect for a relaxing holiday. Our six self catering holiday cottages are surrounded by two acres of gardens making this a safe place for children and a peaceful haven for adults.
Guests are very welcome to help us at feeding times for the animals, help to collect the eggs and round up the chickens when it is their bedtime.
Within the grounds we have an outdoor covered, heated swimming pool (open Easter to end September), a children's play area, sandpit, trampoline badminton net and a games room. Well behaved dogs are also welcome.
The Threshing Barn is converted from part of the farm's original threshing barn. It has a comfortable lounge/dining area with a solid oak floor and a large bay window which makes a feature of the original cart entrance. The lounge/dining area has a wood burning stove, 32? Flatscreen LCD Digital TV with Freeview, video, DVD player and mini Hi-Fi.
The fully-fitted kitchen includes an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer and a washer drying machine to keep up with your laundry while you are on holiday.
At the top of the stairs is the landing. Leading from the landing are the bathroom, airing cupboard and the bedrooms. The bathroom comprising bath, shower attachment, wc, wash basin, heated towel rail and electric fan heater is straight ahead. On the left is the airing cupboard door and the door to the double bedroom leading into the twin bedroom. A hair dryer is available for use during your holiday.
There is a folder in the cottage full of leaflets giving details of the vast number of sights, attractions and places to visit during your holiday here in North Devon. The cottage also has walking books containing various routes so that you can really explore and enjoy North Devon during your holiday.
The cottage is fully centrally heated with the cost of central heating included within the cottage rental. Between the months of September and May central heating is available in the cottage (for heating times see terms and conditions page). Central heating is switched off from the beginning of June to the end of August. The woodburner is always there to provide a warm cosy glow if you need it along with two electric convector heaters which you can place where you want. The cottage has a £1 coin electricity meter.
The fabulous golden coasts of Croyde, Putsborough, Woolacombe, Westward Ho! and the well known surfing beach Saunton Sands with its golden dunes are an easy drive from Lower Hearson Farm. "What a fantastic time!"
Thank you Graeme for yet another fantastic holiday. The kids and mum absolutely loved helping Graeme to feed the animals and playing in your beautiful surroundings . A thoroughly relaxing week spent at the Threshing Barn with the children free to play on the amenities all within a safe and watchful distance. Wi-Fi also a godsend!
Fabulous walks taking in the wild life, beautiful beaches nearby and wonderful thatched country pubs to explore for dinner.
Next year booked already - our springer (Monty) can't wait either !
It is always a pleasure having you to stay. See you all again in a few weeks time.

"A fantastic relaxing getaway on a farm, made welcome by wonderful hosts"
We would highly recommend this farmyard getaway. We go every year and Graeme is just wonderful with the kids , they help him with the chicks, piglets and sheep! The cottages are very well presented and equipped and the local scenery/ attractions make this a wonderful stay.

"Great fun on the farm for the little ones with a real sense of community."
We took our 4 yr old and 6 month old. Stayed in the threshing barn. Lovely cottage that felt like home for all of us straight a way. Cottage had everything we needed. Cot and high chair provided. Toys of appropriate age were left in the cupboard for my son, which was a lovely touch. All kids joined farmer Graeme to feed the pigs and chickens in the morning then again after tea. My son was very excited about collecting eggs and graeme was really patient with all the children, answering any questions they had. farm is like a little community where children can meet friends and play together in the play areas safely. Lots to do within a short drive during the day. The pool is an added bonus and was warm enough for the baby. We will be returning when our youngest is old enough to feed the animals too in 2015.
