About the home

Welcome to the Little House – self catering cottage. A great location in a peaceful North Devon valley. 3 miles from Braunton & Barnstaple and 15 mins drive to the golden, sandy beaches of North Devon: Croyde, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Putsborough. Exmoor is a 20 minute drive away. The Little House; which is part of our traditional Devon Long House built in 1680 was originally a huge, vast cellar with windows. We have transformed The Little House into a stylish open plan self catering cottage which is in the style of an open plan studio apartment on the ground floor. Full of charm and character with exposed stone walls, wooden floors and low beams (note: low ceilings). With views of our paddock and the woodland beyond. The Little House is a perfect rural get away for two people and “cosy” for four.

Use of indoor swimming pool on request (located 15 minute drive away)

Kids are welcome to roam the paddock and play in the stream (bring wellies) look out for Jingle our super friendly Labrador and Jack our reliable old horse and of course the chickens!

Grown ups; put your feet up, enjoy a glass of wine, listen to the stream trickle by and the owls hoot as night time falls.

The set up of the Little House is open plan i.e. no separate bedroom, a bit like a funky studio apartment. Newly decorated in Mar 2013, with solid pine furniture and a modern kitchen with white ceramic sink.

The Little House has front and rear entrances. Parking is to the rear of the Little House in a private driveway.

We are happy to accommodate 4 people in the Little House, bear in mind it will be cosy! All be it, a very economical holiday!

Cancellation: If cancellation is 4 weeks or more prior to your arrival date, your deposit will be refunded provided we are able to re let your booking. If cancellation is within 4 weeks of your arrival date and your balance is paid, the same rule applies. If we are able to re let your booking for the same value we will give you a refund. If we are able to pick up a last minute booking for less than the value you have paid, we will refund the amount of the new booking.

Nearest Airport - Exeter which is approx 1.5 hrs drive. Bristol is 2 hours drive away both are served with budget airlines. Nearest Train station Barnstaple 10 minute drive. By car - we are 3 miles from Barnstaple. To drive to Barnstaple go via the M5 then A361 from the North or the A377 from the South. A car is essential if you stay at The Little House.

“Fabulous house, fabulous hosts in fabulous North Devon!” The Little House is just perfect for a family retreat. It accommodates 2 adults & 2 children comfortably and offers everything you need, from kitchen equipment to outdoor drying space. The location in Whitehall is peaceful and calm, but within easy reach of all the best North Devon beaches and all the other tourist attractions. Jo & Jerry are fantastic hosts & we can't rate the Little House highly enough! We will be back!
