The Barnstaple area
Barnstaple is the commercial centre of the region, combining sophisticated shopping with the bustling atmosphere of markets and speciality shops. The modern Green Lanes Shopping Centre compliments the traditional Pannier and Craft Markets held since 1855 in the Pannier Market Hall.
This attractive market town is the oldest and largest town in North Devon, nestling in the Taw valley on the other side of the estuary which the Saxons first settled in Barnstaple (Barum) over 1000 years ago.
The Long Bridge, crossing the tidal River Taw was thought to have been built in the 12th and 13th centuries and in Litchdon Street are located the Penrose Almshouses built in the early 17th century.

“Excellent time away”
You can not get it wrong visiting C.Farm! Best choice ever! Barnstaple it's lovely. Than if you go to visit close by places Ilfracombe or Woolacombe you will love it. I really didn't expect that out there, outside London there is such beautiful country side. The cottage it's so cosy that actually you wouldn't like to move anywhere else. It's like a home away. Like if someone gives you their home key and you are using it;) Fully equipped kitchen. Sainsbury's close by. Than grab a book or watch some movies with a glass of wine next to fire place. The swimming pool it's honestly heaven! You absolutely must try it all! There is so much I haven"t done (cycling or tennis) and if I will have a chance I would return in the future! If your dates are available just go for it:)
Spent a lovely Xmas week here. This was us retunring after a great week in September and will not be our last. Weather was very wet, lots of local flooding but this didn't matter as we had the facilties to use. Cottage very warm & cosy. Very freindly owners. Sue hope you are enjoying, (enjoyed) Australia - can't remember when you where going/returning
“Ticks all boxes! Fun + luxurious. Simply stunning.”
A haven - hidden away on a beautiful farm yet with easy access to town and coastal walks. The facilities were fun and amazing: jet stream pool (so you can swim properly!) with jacuzzi end, a sauna, badminton court in a high-ceilinged barn (with occasional fat cat joining in), tennis court, table tennis, pool, darts, mountain bikes for £6 / day and the Tarka Trail at the bottom of the lane for car-free cycling. The actual cottage was stunning and equipped with everything you could need; cosy, luxurious and romantic, with a log-burning stove. Although there are 5 cottages on the farm they're arranged to provide privacy and we never actually bumped into any other visitors on our week's stay. 10 minutes from Barnstaple yet only a 4 mile walk to a delightful fishing village. Stunning! Combrew Farm has it all. Reading through the literature and speaking to Sue & John it almost seemed too good to be true. It isn't – it really is that idyllic! Enjoy!!

“A great relaxing week away from it all”
We stayed at Colmbrew for a week in November and it was brilliant. The facilities in the cottage are first rate and the owners Sue and John couldn't be any more helpful. We hired bikes one day from the cottages and cycled the nearby Tarka trail which is beautiful. The surrounding area has lots for people to do and loads of lovely pubs with great food and excellent local beers.

“relaxing spot with a pool that[--]s hot”
This was a birthday surprise for a member of the party. We arrived at night after a very arduous car journey in the rain, to be greeted by a very cosy and private cottage. Very clean, lots of modern touches, real fire, and even complimentary eggs and milk. We very much enjoyed exploring the farm, which is full of surprises,- goats, chickens, rabbits, great for little-uns. Spa is great, clean and very warm, think we spent a lot of time in the pool and sauna. Host is very friendly and helpful. Farm is in great location, however because of the bad weather, we missed out on the Tarka trail. But just means we'll have to go back and do it next time.

“Excellent stay at a great farm”
From the very beginning of us booking our holiday the service was exemplary. All emails were answered quickly and information sent in the post straight after booking. We were offered and used a travel cot and high chair at no extra cost, which were both brand new and spotless. The warm welcome from the owners was lovely and included little touches such as complimentary milk and eggs from the farm. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and I can honestly say there was not a single item that I would change or that did not work. The cottage is very modern, lovely big bath and another bathroom with seperate shower. All the mod cons in the cottage were all very handy including the dishwasher and tumble dryer. The farm has an indoor pool which is heated and really nice. We infact used it 4 times on our stay and had exclusive use. Other things the kids enjoyed included feeding the animals and the park/trampolines. We will be recommending this location to friends and will definitely be returning. You won't be disappointed when booking this holiday!
Really enjoyed our stay. The best accomodation ever stayed in. Clean, wonderful facilities, friendly and helpful hosts, couldn't want for more

“Courtyard Cottage in a Peaceful location”
29/06/12 – 06/07/12
Courtyard Cottage
A lovely comfortable, cosy and well equipped cottage ideally situated for seeing all that North Devon has to offer. Added to this, a superb onsite swimming pool, tennis/shuttlecock court, games and keep fit room. The weather wasn't anything to write home about but that didn't spoil our holiday as we managed sight seeing and walking everyday. We have returned home fitter than we arrived. We would love to return and will recommend to friends and family.
“Everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage”
My wife and I have just returned from a superb week in Courtyard Cottage. The cottage itself was really well equiped and in tip top order. The owners John and Sue could not have been more welcoming or helpful and that was achieved without the slightest sense of intrusion. Combrew Farm has everything, excellent swimming pool / jacuzzi, badminton court and tennis, wifi / computer room, gym and every facility for children too. My wife and I took our bikes but if you wish you can hire from the farm very reasonably. The Tarka Trail is 1 mile from the farm down a safe route and the trail itself is great with good sufaces lovely views and plenty of refreshment places on route. We broke the trail into three rides over the week covering 75 miles. Not bad for 64 yr olds ( it helped being mostly flat) and the jacuzzi helped ease the aches! We will certainly be back there is so much more to do and enjoy. John and Sue obviously take great pride in there constant improvments and renewals so we know that our next visit will be every bit as good.

“A Wonderful Relaxing Cottage”
The Cottage is a wonderful place for anyone to stay. It has a real home from home feel about it which makes for a very relaxing stay. The cottage was maintained to a very high standard and was very well equipped. The onsite indoor heated pool is just lovely. The facilities on site are perfect for young families. We found the owners to be extremely helpful from our initial booking to any requests during our stay. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

“It's the best in North Devon.”
Have stayed at Combrew on many occasions, it is the best, I've stayed in others only when they have been fully booked. The pool facility is great, for families or couples, but the main thing is the cottages are equiped so well, nothing is forgotten, book it and you will return.
My husband and I loved our stay at Combrew farm!!! John and Sue were very welcoming and helpful form the first point of contact! They gave us great tips about the area and on what to do, where to go/eat etc.. At first when we booked our holiday we were planning on arriving in the middle of the night and John sad that it wouldn't be a problem- making it very easy for us. Even though we ended up going at a later time John was still there to welcome us and make sure we settled in fine.
We were also very surprised that when telling John that we were there to celebrate my Birthday he recommended the a great Pub (Instow Arms) with the most delicious food ever, and upon arrival we found out that he had paid a round of drinks for us, which was very kind!
The cottage we stayed in (Courtyard Cottage) was simply amazing...Everything was so clean and tidy..We loved the fresh towels and bed linen... we also loved the fireplace, it was so good to come back home and relax in the living room... it was everything that we needed. Facilities in the cottage and around were also great with the indoor heated swimming pool and the trampolines as our favourites!!
The area around the cottage is certainly beautiful and there wasn't a day that we had nothing to do. North Devon really is an amazing place. Overall top holiday, stress free.. and as I mentioned before the most relaxing holiday ever, we had no worries and actually felt at home!!!!
Money wise it was extremely value for money, we had a luxurious holiday at an affordable price.
We are very happy we booked our holiday with them.. and will definitely be returning to Combrew in the future and we also have already recommended to all our friends and family.

“A lovely place to stay”
This was our second visit to Combrew Farm and it was as good as we remembered. The hosts, John and Sue, are very welcoming and obviously really care about the properties and the guests. The cottage is clean and comfortable and well equipped with dvd player and freeview TV (for which we were very grateful given some decidedly dodgy British weather and a restless 2 year old - CBeebies to the rescue!). The bed is a decent size and comfortable and the showers good. This cottage is all on one level which is also handy with a toddler. The facilities are fabulous - the pool is delightfully warm and perfect for little ones (and great to have on those grotty days). Our son loves the playground and adored the chickens, goats and rabbits. The location is great - it feels in the middle of nowhere but has the convenience of being close to everything you could need to make self catering easy. You can cycle to the tarka trail at the bottom of the lane where there is a lovely cafe for lunches (you can now hire bikes from the Farm, significantly cheaper than the hire shops). There is a great Chinese restaurant and takeaway up the road and Barnstaple, with all the lovely produce available on Butcher's Row, is only about 10 mins away. The beauty of Exmoor, big sandy beaches, little rock pooling beaches and kids activities are all a stone's throw away. We will definitely be back and have recommended to friends.

“A Wonderful Place To Base Yourself In North Devon”
A lovely clean spacious cottage.Indoor heated spa pool excellent for unwinding after a days sight seeing.Proprieters very warm and welcoming.I cannot fault the place. Superb value for money. I spent £1000 2 years ago to stay for a week in a stalag hut ( sorry mobile home ) in France. Same week 2 years later at Combrew Farm £650. A wonderful laid back place to stay.
“Superb accomodation, great facilities and a good location - a recipe for a relaxing holiday with the kids!”
We were looking for a relaxing holiday with all the comforts of home and activities for the family to enjoy on rainy days, as the British weather can be so unpredictable. We found this in Courtyard Cottage at Combrew Farm. The cottage was immaculate and was equipped with everything you needed and more, and it is in a great location to explore North Devon and its lovely beaches. We all enjoyed the pool/spa and made good use of the badminton court, tennis court, table tennis etc, and the kids had great fun on the trampolines. An added bonus was the cycle hire on site which was great value for money, and we spent two days cycling along the Tarka trail which is just down the road from the cottages. The service from Sue and family was excellent from booking to departure. Overall a highly recommended property for a relaxing holiday.

“Perfect location and accommodation for a relaxing family holiday.”
Great facilities on site for families - especially the swimming pool and adventure playground. Our children would have spent all day in the warm pool if they could! They also loved feeding the animals at the farm. The accommodation is of an excellent standard with all mod cons for a relaxing holiday. The owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, but without ever being intrusive to our holiday. Perfect location for exploring the North Devon coast - great beaches a short drive away and The Tarka Trail. Very good pubs and restaurants nearby. The best accommodation we have stayed in within this area of North Devon- which we have been visiting for more than 10 years.
The owner is based in the United Kingdom and has advertised with Holiday Lettings since 2006. This cottage has received 20 reviews from previous guests.
