The West Country region

With a very mild climate all year round North Devon is a wonderful location at any time of year

Barnstaple is the commercial centre of the region, combining sophisticated shopping with the bustling atmosphere of markets and speciality shops. The modern Green Lanes Shopping Centre compliments the traditional Pannier and Craft Markets held since 1855 in the Pannier Market Hall.

This attractive market town is the oldest and largest town in North Devon, nestling in the Taw valley on the other side of the estuary which the Saxons first settled in Barnstaple (Barum) over 1000 years ago.

The Long Bridge, crossing the tidal River Taw was thought to have been built in the 12th and 13th centuries and in Litchdon Street are located the Penrose Almshouses built in the early 17th century.

"Faultless! We had everything needed for a perfect holiday!"

We stayed for 4 nights with two children aged 6 & 9! The cottage had everything needed for comfort and convienience! The pool, games room and garden with trampoline kept kids entertained! We wish we had booked the week to make better use of the facilities! As we were lucky with the weather we were out most of the day! Nearby beaches are beautiful such as Instow and Saunton sands! Some lovely pubs nearby Cedars and Braunton Inn! We have no hesitation recommending the cottage and location and have done so to friends, will definitely come back!

"A fantastic retreat.... Everything you need in one place"

We stayed in the Courtyard Cottage at the end of May and we couldn't have wished for better accommodation. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. On arrival Sue greeted us and showed us around: she was very friendly and welcoming. She ensured we had a travel cot and high hair for our one year old. It was lovely to have a complimentary half dozen eggs fresh from their chickens. (We bought these eggs everyday as they were so delicious!) The pool is lovely and the pets corner was great. The location of Combrew Farm was also excellent - only a short drive to many of North Devon's attractions. Combrew Farm is very peaceful but at the same time offers many facilities that would keep a family very happy for their stay! Overall an excellent holiday which we hope to visit again soon!

Oh and we've already recommended this accommodation to friends!

"outstanding place to stay"

The cottage was fantastic, comfortable, cozey and like home from had every thing you needed,w machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher,tv's in most rooms, dvd player "with surround sound",beds were great, bathrooms excellent,it was just spot on in every way possible.there are beaches near by,and plenty to do at the site, great heated pool "which we had to our selves",table tennis, pool table, and more so its great for the kids s well. There are pubs and places to eat nearby and a large sainsburys a short drive away.we loved it here, the only regret was that we did not go for longer,it would be even better with some nice summers weather as we went in may,who cares when there is a pool.Great for family, would probably be great for groups, couples as well,we highly recommend it.
