The West Country region

With a very mild climate all year round North Devon is a wonderful location at any time of year

Barnstaple is the commercial centre of the region, combining sophisticated shopping with the bustling atmosphere of markets and speciality shops. The modern Green Lanes Shopping Centre compliments the traditional Pannier and Craft Markets held since 1855 in the Pannier Market Hall.

This attractive market town is the oldest and largest town in North Devon, nestling in the Taw valley on the other side of the estuary which the Saxons first settled in Barnstaple (Barum) over 1000 years ago.

The Long Bridge, crossing the tidal River Taw was thought to have been built in the 12th and 13th centuries and in Litchdon Street are located the Penrose Almshouses built in the early 17th century.

"Fantastic *****"

What a great find! We had a fabulous long weekend with our dog and can truly say it was one of the best holidays we have had. The cottage is very well equipped and is a true 'home from home', the decoration is superb and the facilities on site are great. The pool is just the thing to unwind after a long day walking on the beaches. Thank you for a fantastic stay and we can't wait to book again!

"Superb Standard"

The accommodation and facilities were of excellent standard, over and above our expectations. The pool/spa was immaculate, warm and clean and a delight to the end of each day.

"A fabulous cottage with everything the family needs for a perfect holiday"

From the booking through to the actual holiday Combrew Cottages supplied an excellent service and quality cottage which ensured the whole family had a great holiday.
The cottage had everything we needed and we were made to feel very welcome by the Tucker family.
The weather was stunning in North Devon but the extra facilities would have ensured we enjoyed the holiday whatever the weather.

We will be returning

"Ideal for families"

We stayed in Tuckers Retreat for a week with our 20 month old toddler. The cottage and grounds were beautiful. The facilities on site are perfect for young families: friendly animals, kids' playground, heated pool and lots of open space to run around in. The location is perfect for a touring base for North Devon with a choice of lovely beaches and towns just a short drive away. Owners friendly and welcoming but not intrusive. Lovely holiday! Would definitely stay here again!

"Another fabulous week in relaxing surroundings"

This is our third visit to Combrew Farm and Tuckers Retreat. The cottage is lovely, a real home from home, with everything you could possibly need and the general facilities on offer are brilliant. There is also Wi-Fi access, crucial for a family with a teenager who Tweets constantly! Sue, John and John Ross are so welcoming, it's like coming to stay with friends and that's what makes it so special. The weather was lovely this time so that was a bonus and it's amazing how different things look when the sun is shining; I don't think we noticed before how nice Instow beach was, as last time we drove through it was pouring with rain. We absolutely love Combrew Farm and now we have found it would not really think about going elsewhere; 2014 is already booked!

"Don't tell everyone about this little gem!"

This was our second stay at Combrew Cottages, and once again we weren't disappointed. Not only is the cottage warm and inviting with a real home-from-home feeling, the owners keep it up to date (… More

"Fantastic as ever!"

The fact that this was our fourth stay sums it up. Combrew is such a perfect place to stay with small children that we haven't seen the need to go anywhere else. We were very lucky with the weather this holiday, making it one of the best we have had. North devon has some wonderful beaches if you get the weather to enjoy them and Exmoor is stunning to explore. Combrew makes the stay so enjoyable and hassle free. I arrive every time in complete confidence that all the paraphernalia needed for a 12 mth old and 3.5 year old will be waiting for us in a beautifully clean and well equipped cottage. Both boys love the warm pool and it is perfect for days when the weather is less favourable. Feeding the goats our veg trimmings in the morning is always popular as are the lovely eggs the resident chickens provide for our breakfast. Sue(the owner) is lovely; always so helpful without being intrusive. The only thing that could improve the stay (and it really is a little thing) is the water pressure in the shower could be better as it does feel like you have to catch the water. Our eldest son was so sad to leave and said it was the best holiday he had ever had. No greater recommendation required!

"Just what we wanted!"

This was the second time we stayed at Combrew Farm Cottages, the reason we came back being it was so good the first time...and we certainly weren't disappointed! The accommodation was comfortable and spacious enough for four adults and a two year-old (we stayed in Tuckers Retreat - one of the two bedroom cottages), with all the amenities and facilities you need, just like home. Spotlessly clean too! The swimming pool with built in jacuzzi and the sauna are perfect for relaxation and we love the fact that the pool temperature is kept at 36 degrees. Location wise it's perfect for exploring the North Devon coast with plenty of things to do and see and a lot of good places to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be returning!
