About the property

Oozing romance and charm this beautiful barn with its stripped timber beams and floors, is designed on a reverse level style so that the amazing views of the surrounding lush green countryside can be enjoyed from the upstairs windows. The rustic handmade galley kitchen stands at the middle of this unusual 'V'shape design, a central hub overlooking both living room and dining room ensuring meal times are a social event for all. Complete with Aga and Belfast sink the kitchen is also equipped with a two ring electric hob. Open tread stairs lead down from the living space to three double bedrooms, each with their own shower room. The smallest of the double rooms connects to a dressing room with a single bed for use on request.


Bentwitchen Barn is a perfect choice for families with slightly older children - its upside down layout provides a great communal space to enjoy each others company with plenty of room to spread out. Due to the unusual structure of the upstairs balconies (seen in photographs) this property is unsuitable for children under 8 years of age.


Outside there is a sunny patio to while away summer evenings whilst soaking up the beautiful views of the valley, and a lawn garden to the rear. Parking for up to three cars outside the property.

The area

South Molton, the nearest town, is 6 miles away and has a local market on Thursday and a farmers market on Saturday.  Barnstaple, North Devon's main market town, with its famous Pannier Market and Butchers Row - excellent for both meat and locally caught fish, is within easy reach and offers a range of shopping facilities and other activities. The Poltimore Arms, possibly one of Exmoor's most delightful pubs, is just up the road and is definitely Bentwtichen's 'local'.

The tiny hamlet of Bentwitchen is situated on the southern fringes of Exmoor National Park, with its spectacular, rugged scenery, interesting wildlife and prehistoric sites, Exmoor is an ideal location for those seeking a peaceful retreat to relax and unwind, walkers will also enjoy the miles of pathways that traverse this beautiful landscape.

The cottage is surrounded by fantastic countryside and guests are free to roam the valley via a footpath at the bottom of the garden.

Barnstable is an excellent shopping centre with a great selection of high street shops and a hidden in the alleyways and narrow streets off the main pedestrian walkway is a host of attractive boutiques, cafes and restaurants.

South Molton now free of through traffic is on the main holiday route to the north coast and has a market every saturday with a farmers market every third Saturday.
