The West Country region
North Devon is without doubt one of the most magnificent, unspoilt coastlines in England. The award winning surfing beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde are acessible for a day on the beach. There is an extensive network of public coastal footpaths and cycle paths to explore the rolling countryside, not to mention some great country pubs!
Situated in the picturesque village of Tawstock and nestled in a stunning landscape, Deer Park is a delightful, newly refurbished 4 bedroomed cottage, dating back to 1750. It is set in its own gardens of nearly an acre, with amazing views over the highest point in the area, Codden Hill, and the countryside beyond.
As its name suggests the cottage is a haven for wildlife, with owls, herons and woodpeckers being frequent visitors to its gardens. Early in the morning, at certain times of the year, the occasional deer can be spotted.
The cottage is just a few minutes' drive from Barnstaple with its excellent selection of large supermarkets, shops and restaurants.
Closeby is the village of Bishops Tawton, where there is a lovely, traditional thatched pub with beams and a log fire, serving good locally sourced food.
The property is also conveniently situated for the many stunning beaches in the area:
Instow beach is just a 15 minute drive away, while the great surfing beaches of Saunton Sands, the award-winning beach of Woolacombe and Croyde can be reached in 20 minutes along a delightful coastal route.
There are miles of cycle paths alongside the river Taw, and the South West coastal path is close by for some of the most spectacular coastal walking in England. (Check out google images for the North Devon coastal path)
The Cathedral City of Exeter can be reached in an hour on the scenic train route from Barnstaple.
