"The perfect place - central to many ideal places to visit"

This renovated property was absolutely brilliant inside with 2 large bedrooms, large lounge, a lovely bathroom and a great en-suite and a fully equipped modern kitchen. Everything was provided with plenty of glasses, plates, saucepans etc. for self-catering, dish washer, washing machine etc. Even a record player (with records). A good outdoor area for a bar-b-cue and reading etc. Plenty of room for cars. The owner Phil was most helpful, trusting and easy going. A good central place for travelling to the Yorkshire Dales, York, Leeds, Manchester and Whitby and Scarborough for the seaside.

"Lovely place"

The cottage is lovely and spacious, and the bathrooms in particular stand out. The garden is nice and has a barbecue. The owner is easy to contact and was happy to help.
We were only there for a long weekend, so couldn't really take full advantage of the surrounding area!
The only negative was that one of the bedrooms has a couple of skylights without blinds, so it's not that practical in the height of summer if you like to sleep in the dark!

"Best holiday cottage I've ever stayed in"

Middlewood Hall Lodge is beautiful! Wonderfully comfortable and well equipped, set in a lovely, fully enclosed garden, it was the perfect place to stay in South Yorkshire. Decorated to a very high standard and with wonderfully comfy beds, what more could one ask? Many places say they accept dogs, but we felt our dog was truly welcome here. I can't recommend it highly enough.

"Comfortable warm and lovely place to stay"

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Lodge. Loved the wood burning fire and comfortable red leather settees to relax on. Our 2 Lhasa's Apso dogs loved the enclosed garden, courtyard and they were safe. We all enjoyed the walks around the lodge and by the river shame it wasn't warm enough to sit outside for too long in the private garden. Everything you would want in the kitchen to cook if you want too. Lovely comfy warm beds too. Walked to the Indian restaurant one evening only 5 mins walk so no driving for either of us. Enjoyed Barnsley with all the shops and great Market especially the food hall cheap and tasty. Oh and the broadband internet was a bonus too. Thanks Phil for an enjoyable stay and we will be back in the summer to enjoy the garden in some sunshine (we hope) Lynn & Bob

"Fantastic place to stay, booked again for next year. So pleased to have found it."

I am so glad we found this place,we stayed here for two weeks over Christmas while visiting family. This is a beautiful house with everything you could possibly need while staying there. The lodge has a wonderful welcoming feel to it, we felt at home as soon as we walked in.The little touches that Phil the owner provides such as fresh flowers, chestnuts are really lovely. The rooms in the lodge are beautiful, the stove in the room is great, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen has everything you could possibly want and the bathroom is huge !!!!!
There is a lot of parking space and a lovely big garden which would be great to spend time in during warmer months.
Having lived nearby I know the lodge is in a great position to explore Yorkshire from. It is a great base for day trips out and there is plenty to do nearby, some lovely walks, nice restaurants (great indian restaurant) etc.
Having broadband was a bonus for our teenager, he also enjoyed bike riding, walking being able to order from Chicos pizza takeaway, and going to the cinema (there are no takeaways or cinemas where we live) !! in fact we didn't hear 'I'm bored' at all.
I think the best recommendation you can give any accommodation is whether or not you would return, we have booked again for next year. I was actually sad to leave the lodge and we are all looking forward to returning.
