I travelled from Australia to spend Christmas and the New Year with my family in the UK and stayed at the Mistal for two weeks. We had a wonderful time and a big part of that was down to this property. We arrived to be met by Howard and Diane and you couldn't wish to meet two nicer people. There was a roaring fire greet us and a very warm welcome from Diane and Howard. The house and the annexe were beautifully decorated for Xmas which was a lovely surprise and we were even given a Xmas gift. The Mistal is a lovely place to stay, like a home away from home. There is everything you need to give you the most comfortable of stays. Every room was extremely comfortable and I especially liked the kitchen. We loved the idea of the annexe as it meant we could have all the family to visit at one time as it is such a huge space. The property is also well situated for long walks in the countryside which we enjoyed. Also it is in a really tranquil area. I would highly recommend this property and I intend to return there in the future Response: We both enjoyed meeting you all and are so pleased you enjoyed your stay it really means a lot to us. We do hope you come back again to the newly extended Mistal. Thank you so very much for you kind review |

we were greeted so warmly by diane, she is a very nice lady, and has a lovely home which she gave up for us to enjoy. there is a range in the kitchen which keeps the place warm all day long. wet clothes soon dried. and i found it no problem to use, diane showed us how to use it anyway. kitchen is lovely, very homely with a farmhouse style. it has a flat screen tv on the wall. a nice farmhouse table sitting six. fridge and a freezer, though there was some of dianes food in there. and there was a washing machine. and it had flag flooring and a butler sink. the two bedrooms had very comfortable beds, and diane had left some coat hangers, which was handy as i had not taken any. there was a hairdryer and plenty of mirrors. the shower was good, we never used the bath. diane had left some samples of toiletries in there. the living room was comfortable it also had a flat screen tv. but the best was the annex room which was across the court yard, this had lots of seating, 3 sofas and 2 armchairs and a rocking chair. and a huge flat screen tv, it had variouse lighting, some soft, some bright. it had some cute little dolls ( like children) sitting or standing in corners playing hide go seek, this amused me very much. the pond had been filled in ready for a new extension to be done, to join the house to the annex, this will be lovely i am sure, when it is done, if the rest of the property is to go by. the house is full of memorabilia items which give it a lovely homely feel. there was room in the court yard for both our cars. we were surounded by fields to the side and back of the property, which we could access from a side gate in the court yard, for walks. it was sittuated about 15 minuites outside of barnsley, which had suffisient amenities. Response: Thank you for your kind review look forward to seeing you again kind regards |

We rented The Mistal for the easter weekend and on arrival we were met by Diane and her husband and given the tour of the cottage. They are both lovely people and made us feel very welcome. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished if not quirky in design, with a seperate building being a very large lounge area, numerous sofa's and chairs and a large wall mounted TV, freesat and DVD player. Although tyere was also another longe area within the main building. The Kitchen area is also spacious, but we did no cooking at all whilst we stayed, which was mainly down to the fact they had a rayburn cooker, which neither of us had ever cooked on, so felt comfortable using. The Two bedrooms were also spacious, clean and very nicely decorated Our easter break was mainly spent away from the cottage, as we wanted to visit various places such as York, Knaresborough, and Brahmms Rocks. This Cottage proved to be a perfect location as many places of interest were within a short drive. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather during our trip, so the courtyard at the cottage with decking chairs etc proved to be perfect for our warm evenings. There is plenty more of Yorkshire that we hope to see and I would certainly contact Diane again to use her cottage when the time comes again. Many thanks Diane - Your cottage and hospitality are second to none David & Deborah - from Essex Response: Thank you for your kind review we hope to see you at The Mistal again it was a pleasure meeting you both kind regards |
