Barnard Castle

The pretty Pennine village of Middleton-In-Teesdale lies in the heart of Teesdale, perched on the riverbank in the beautiful Tees Valley. Situated in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', this is a well-served little settlement and offers a good range of shops, pubs and places to eat. For more specialist amenities, the market town of Barnard Castle is within easy driving distance and provides everything a visitor could possibly need. The surrounding countryside is full of excellent walking opportunities through high, open moorland and pretty wooded valleys. Nearby are the waterfalls of High Force and Cauldron Snout, which are often considered to be amongst the most spectacular sights in the district.

Many thanks for bringing to our attention the fact that you were cold in our cottage and we are so sorry if this was the case. Unfortunately there is no gas in our village and we do not have room for an oil tank and so we regret that we can attribute the problem you had to this. What we have done since receiving your feedback is remove the night storage heaters and replaced them with new fully controllable electric radiators. We are also pleased that the carbon monoxide alarm was proven to be working pro-actively (albeit rather sensitive). Whilst there was no danger it did alert you and we are only sorry that you did not bring this to our attention during your stay so that this could have been clarified immediately and any concerns allayed. We have also taken this opportunity to upgrade the whole of the cottage including a new kitchen, new carpets and replacing some furniture. We do hope this meets with your approval and thank you once again for this helpful feedback.
