A superb front garden with furniture and BBQ is a wonderful way to dine on a summers evening and there is also ample roadside parking to the front of the cottage. The nearest shop is only 100 yards away and the nearest pub is 300 yards from the cottage. Gateway Cottage is in a perfect location within Middleton-in-Teesdale which has many amenities and with waterfalls, countryside and Barnard Castle nearby, Gateway Cottage is a fantastic base to explore the area.

Barnard Castle

The lovely village of Middleton-in-Teesdale is situated on the riverbank of the Tees Valley and is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village offers many local shops and pubs. For those that enjoy walks, the nearby stunning High Force and Cauldron Snout waterfalls are spectacular, along with open moorland and the pretty wooded valleys which are worth exploring. The historic, market town of Barnard Castle is just ten miles away and offers wonderful cobbled streets as well as a number of shops, pubs, cafes and tearooms which can be found in the town. Nearby visits to the excellent Raby Castle with its deer park, Bowes Museum and Egglestone Hall are essential. Middleton-in-Teesdale is an ideal base to explore the area at any time of the year.
