The North Wales region

This self catering cottage is located on the grounds of a country house and enjoys a spectacular setting within 2½ acres of gardens and woodland. The river Dwynant flows through the grounds before joining the Mawddach on the estuary just 0.3km away. The cottage is less than 2 miles from Barmouth with its award winning sandy beach, restaurants, a range of interesting shops and much more. It is also located in Snowdonia National Park and provides an excellent base to explore this beautiful area of North Wales.

There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, including Bistro Bermo, Bwyty Mawddach and The George III, all within 5 miles of the cottage. The nearest good pubs include the Last Inn in Barmouth and, once again, George III in Penmaenpool.

From historic castles and steam railways to magnificent walks and cycling routes, beautiful gardens, extreme sports and stunning scenery, this area of North Wales has it all. Some of the must do's during your stay at the cottage include walking or cycling The Mawddach Trail and experiencing the phenomenal views of the Snowdonia mountains sweeping down to the Mawddach estuary, especially at sunset. Harlech Castle's World Heritage Site is also worth a visit and for keen mountain bikers, the world renowned Coed y Brenin mountain biking centre is within a 20 minute drive.

The ferry crossing from Barmouth to Fairbourne and the steam train at Fairbourne offers another great day out, just minutes from your cottage. The Italian village of Portmeirion is another 'must see' and because you're in Snowdonia National Park, a walk to the top of Cader Idris or even Snowdon could well be on the cards.
