About this location

The Gwynedd region

Snowdonia, North Wales offers the biggest, boldest mountains in Wales and England and is one of the most ancient and hauntingly beautiful areas in Europe.

Snowdonia welcomes visitors to a breathtaking natural environment, with Snowdonia National Park at its heart and much, much more. People have lived, worked and thrived on this Celtic land for more than 5000 years. Their legacy is a land which will fascinate the visitor with its rich opportunities for adventure, activity and discovery, its fascinating history and its ancient, musical language and culture.

Snowdonia is also close to a magnificent coastline of sandy beaches, spectacular cliffs and glorious estuaries along the west and north coast. Find out how you can make the most of your self-catering cottage holiday in Snowdonia, North Wales...

Beudy Taicroesion self catering cottage is located in Llanaber, 1 mile from Barmouth on the North Wales coast and just a 5 minutes walk to an amazing blue flag beach. Conveniently close to Barmouth (shops, restaurants etc), the cottage also benefits from having one foot in the countryside, with walks leading to the hills from the doorstep.

And then you have Mawddach Way, including the beautiful Barmouth Bridge crossing that can be joined 1 mile away. It has been said that there is "no better walk than from Barmouth through to Dolgellau other than from Dolgellau to Barmouth". The views of the Snowdonia mountains sweeping down to the Mawddach estuary are phenomenal, an experience not to be missed, especially at sunset.

10 miles north along the coast is the picturesque village of Harlech with its nationally and internationally renowned golf course in a breathtaking setting, dominated by the brooding presence of Harlech Castle. For keen mountain bikers, the world renowned Coed y Brenin mountain biking centre is also nearby.

The ferry crossing from Barmouth to Fairbourne and the steam train at Fairbourne offers another great day out, just minutes from Beudy Taicroesion cottage. If you have time, the Italian village of Portmeirion is also worth a visit and with Snowdonia National Park being so close, a walk to the top of Snowdon could well be on the cards.

"A well converted barn, in a nice quite location, just outside Barmouth"

This is a stone build cowshed, at the top of an unnamed road, just outside Barmouth on the main coast road to Harlech. The cottage is far enough from the main road, so its nice and quiet. The only tr… More

"Good, but a few suggestions..."

Beudy Taicroesion is a good cottage, but we can only formally score it 'average' or 'very good', hence it gets an 'average'. In reality, it is inbetween the two. Nicely r… More

In reply to the comments left by our guest we, as the owners feel that we should clarify a few points as they do not do justice to the accommodation and differ completely from the other reviews on TripAdvisor and comments left in our visitor book by previous visitors.

We were surprised to see that our guests thought that the two single beds were for children as they are both two full sized single in a room with wardrobe, bedside cupboard and plenty of room around the beds. We have had 4 adults in the cottage in the past and received no comments regarding space. The view from the window has been commented upon several times in the past, but never as a hidden gem since the window in the lounge is a prominent feature.

When preparing cutlery and dishes for the cottage we always keep and eye on the number of guests expected in the accommodation and therefore for two adults, the glasses were of an adequate number.

The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard and includes full insulation in both the walls and roof - very little heating is required even during the cold winter months therefore the cost of oil is usually very low. Of course flooring etc is a matter of individual taste and the oak floor and fittings used in the upper part of the cottage are a feature as one enters the property, however the laminate in the bedrooms is of a high standard and does not merit a negative comment in our opinion.

Our barbecue is fully functional (we supply tools but not the charcoal - this is normal practice in properties) - built to complement the rustic nature of the accommodation. Again, as the comment book shows, it has been used and appreciated by a number of guests in the past.
