The North Wales region
Barmouth is a small town that became popular in the Victorian period with the arrival of the railway. It fits closely between the mountain and the sea, offering extensive clean safe sandy beaches and simple mountain walks. It provides a good base for exploring North Wales, its castles and the mountains of Snowdonia while avoiding the more popular tourist areas of central Snowdonia's National Park.
Bod Idris is ideally located on the outskirts of Barmouth. As such it avoids the noise of the town but benefits from easy access to both the town, the countryside and walks on foot from the house over the mountains or across the famous railway bridge.
Parking is available in a layby on the opposite side of the road
In season, overnight parking (6pm - 8 am) is allowed on single yellow lines on the road outside the house.
A private car park available for public use - subject to a small fee is within 150m of the property.
Accommodation is to a high modern standard and often commented on by guests - one child even suggesting it was better than home !
A sandy beach below the house provides for endless enjoyment
Originally a private hotel, Bod Idris has been extensively refurbished throughout to provide two modern clean spacious apartments with a high regard to comfort and the needs of those pursuing an active or restful holiday.
Spectacular views of the Mawddach estuary and Cader Idris range are available from each front facing room. Numerous walks are possible both 'on the flat' by crossing Barmouth railway bridge and onwards towards Dolgellau along a disused railway line now opened as a cycle/pedestrian path known as the 'Mawddach Trail'. Alternatively mountain routes above Barmouth, including the famous 'Panorama Walk', can be easily reached from the door.

"Best flat in Barmouth"
Have been using Bod Idris at Easter for last few years - despite lack of parking facilities, it's a great holiday location. Flats are large, well equipped and comfortable. View is to die for - across the famous Barmouth railway bridge to the massif of Cadair Idris in the distance. Well situated for walking and visiting, lots of fresh air and exercise. Thanks Nick - Easter is always to be looked forward to!
I understand parking can be a worry for people so in additional to the parking opposite, I've leased a parking bay for each flat in the nearby(c 100m) Craig Fach car park. This is available as a supplement at £15 per week or £7.50 for 3 nights. Standard short term rate to public is £7 for 24hrs ....nothing more to say - a bargain!

"Well equipped apartment, fabulous views."
This is such a handy location, being a short walk into Barmouth. The apartment is spacious and well equipped, a large fridge/freezer particularly useful for families. The views from the front of the house are stunning as the property overlooks Barmouth Bridge and the estuary. An ensuite shower room, as well as the family bathroom, is useful for families with sandy children.
It would be possible to travel here by rail and still be able to get around on the local trains or buses. The beaches in Barmouth, and opposite the property, are wide and sandy and great for children.
