The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region

The village of Bargemon

Dating back to the early 9th century, Bargemon is an ancient village in the upper Var department, sitting at the edge of the Canjuers plateau at the base of the Var Prealps. Bargemon was fortified in Medieval times and still retains vestiges of walls and fortified entries.Bargemon is sometimes called "The pearl of the High Var." Thanks to the exceptional quality of the mountain air Bargemon and its neighboring villages of Callas and Claviers have been known for centuries as a health resort for people with respiratory projects. Natural springs flow from numerous fountains throughout the village and many people collect the spring water for consumption. Bargemon is a charming medieval village built on a boulder. Little cobbled streets meander up and down around the central Castle, which has been transformed into a quality apartment residence. Bargemon is ideally located in between the Mediterranean Sea and the Alpes. Heading south one hour by car takes you to the well-known seaside towns of St. Tropez, St. Raphael, Antibes, Cannes or Nice. Heading north, one hour on the Route Napoleon takes you to the magnificent Canyon of Verdon and its turquoise-blue Lac de St. Croix. In thirty minutes you can be rowing on the Lac de St. Cassien, known for its rowing club. In just twenty minutes you can be on top of the "Col du Belhomme" to take off paragliding and contemplate one of the most beautiful regions of France from a bird's perspective. Bargemon

The Var in the South of France

The Var is a department of the PACA region ( Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur ). It borders on the Mediterranean Sea, in between the Alpes Maritimes and the Bouches du Rhône, in the South-East of France and is blessed with a micro-climate where clear blue sky and radiant sun smile on the land most of the time. The Var is known for its spectacular natural surroundings. Red canyons, lush vineyards, silvergreen olive groves, purple fields of lavender and meadows rich with red poppies surround the medieval villages. The fabulous local Côtes de Provence wine, delicious olive oil, tasty goat and sheep cheeses and lavender honey make it an epicurean paradise.
