The Provence region

The local region of sixteen communes based around the town of Draguignan is called the Dracenie - a legendary place of dragons. Its folklore is based on medieval tales of dragons breathing their fiery breath into the unspoilt valleys. It is situated in the Var district of Provençal region of France famous for beaches, St.Tropez, Monaco, Cannes, Nice, lavender, olives, wine and sunshine amongst many other things which tempt visitors.

Bargemon

Bargemon is a well watered town. Springs and streams just gush from the hillside all around; the water makes it way to the surface here after percolating deep through the limestone mountains. Situated high in the hills away from the busy coastal towns it offers a quieter, cooler setting for a holiday with easy access to all the interests the côte d'Azur has to offer.

The town is surrounded by forests and woodland which you can explore on a whole network of walking and hiking paths.

There is excellent cycling and hiking on your doorstep. If you do not bring your own bike they can be hired nearby. The beaches of St Tropez, St Maxime, Cannes and Frejus are within 45 minutes drive. (During peak season the journey time to St Tropez can easily double by car). Lac de St Cassien is within 30 minutes and offers wonderfully clear, fresh water swimming and kayaking. The Gorge du Verdon is within 1 hour.

There are several golf courses within 10km (2 x 18 holes at the Terre Blanche in Tourettes), and further courses in the direct vicinity.

There are spas locally – a favourite is at the Four Seasons. There are several restaurants in the area ranging from Michelin starred to plain and simple establishments with children's menus.
