The Normandy / Manche region
Situated on the north east coast of the Cotentin Peninsula, it is within easy reach of the Normandy landing beaches. Bayeux with its famous tapestry is also within easy reach. The university city of Caen with its spectacular Romanesque Abbey is within an hour,s drive.
The area is well known for its oysters, fishing and farming.
Barfleur area
Barfleur is a beautiful unspoilt fishing village, with sandy beaches within walking distance. It has all the necessary facilities, including local supermarket, boulangerie, boucherie, poissonerie, pharmarcie and bank.
There is a selection of good local restaurants and bars.
Weekly Market on quayside
The church of St Nicholas stands at the entrance to the port.
How to get there
Ferry from Portsmouth or Poole to Cherbourg then take the D.901 via St Pierre Eglise to Barfleur. On reaching Barfleur stop at T junction turn right and then immediately left into rue de la poste and the property is on the left.
Taxi sevice available from the port costing approximately 35 euros.
