Home description
The apartment is a 32 m2 duplex. The ground floor boasts an American kitchen, while the first floor is home to the bedroom and bathroom. It is ideal for couples who fancy spending a few days chilling out by the sea.
The apartment is located in the port of Aiguadolc, just 2km from the centre of Sitges, a port town which is home to a wide range of bars and restaurants as well as shops and night-life venues. The beach is a mere 2-minute walk away. In order to get to central Sitges and its most bustling streets, we recommend walking along the recently-constructed promenade, accessible via the port's western exit.
Although it's true that Sitges is at its busiest during the summer months, it is no less interesting a destination throughout the rest of the year. Visitors can make the most of cultural events (museums, guided tours, art galleries, fabulous film and theatre festivals, and music concerts) and sporting activities (tennis courts, golf course and leisure centres).

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region
Climate Costa Daurada is graced with a quintessentially Mediterranean climate, marked by mild winters and warm summers with little rain. In winter, this is due to the mistral wind, which blows in from the northwest, and the garbí, which blows from the southwest; in summer, the region's low humidity prevents the formation of fog.
The region's mountainous geography likewise contributes to its stable climate, making it an optimum place to enjoy outdoor activities all year long. Average temperatures range from approximately 14º in winter to between 21º and 29º in summer. However, it is worth noting the sharp contrast between the region's coastal and mountain areas, where average temperatures are generally 2º to 4º lower.
Rainfall is concentrated in autumn and, above all, spring, although short, heavy showers are common in summer. Taking the differences between coastal and inland areas into account, rainfall in the Costa Daurada region averages between 375 and 700 mm a year. This notwithstanding, the region's rainfall is somewhat unpredictable and has, at times, exceeded 400 mm in just a few days or even hours, causing rivers to rise dramatically.
Barcelona / Sitges area
Sitges (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈsidʒəs]), Catalonia, Spain is a small city about 35 kilometres southwest of Barcelona renowned worldwide for its Film Festival and Carnival. Between the hills and the sea, it is known for its much-frequented beaches, nightspots, and historical sites.
While the roots of Sitges' artsy reputation date back to the late 19th century, when Catalan painter Santiago Rusiñol took up residence there during the summer, the town really came into its own during the 1960s, when it was the only centre for the counter culture on the mainland of Spain (then still under the dictatorship of Francisco Franco), and became known as a sort of "Ibiza in miniature".
Today, Sitges can be considered a dynamic cultural oasis, basing its economy on tourism and culture offering more than 4,500 hotel beds, half of them in four-star hotels. The firm commitment for quality infrastructures has converted Sitges into a first-class destination in terms of tourism of congresses, conferences, seminars and company meetings in the Mediterranean area.
It is also a gay tourist town - in July and August gay men and lesbians visit Sitges as "one of the most popular gay holiday spots in Europe".
Sitges is very international. Almost 35% of the ca. 25.642 inhabitants are from the Netherlands, Great Britain, France and Scandinavia whose children can attend international schools.
How to get there
The majority of visitors to Sitges arrive via Barcelona's Aeroport del Prat, which is located some 20km from Sitges. To get to Sitges from the airport there are three options, train, bus and taxi... unless you are brave enough to rent your own car and drive on the Spanish motorways.
By Train - From the Airport (BCN - El Prat)
When you arrive at the airport, go through arrivals and follow the signs for the Train Station (Marked RENFE). You will see a long walkway that operates between Terminal A and B.
Get on any of the trains and then get back off at the first stop, El Prat de Llobregat station. This has been completely redesigned and is now underground. Go up the escalator, turn left and then go immediately down the next escapator. Take the train that says "Vilanova G" on the front. Watch the signs and get off at the Sitges Stop. It takes approximately 20 minutes. (Subject to change due to current rail works)
Important Notes: After 10.25 p.m. or 22.25 your only option is The Mon Bus is the best option which now leaves between Terminal B & C. (see below) Or you could take a taxi, which costs approximately EUR 50.
By Train - From the Barcelona Centre
Sitges is less than 45 minutes by Cercanias Renfe (the suburban train network) from the centre of Barcelona. Trains leave every 30 minutes and cost about 4€ each way. Board the train at the Passeig de Gracia or Sants subterranean train stations.
To get an exact timetable visit the official RENFE Site (www.renfe.es).
Getting the bus is probably the easiest way to get to Sitges. The service is called MonBus and runs every two hours from approximately 9am until about 10.30pm and also stops in the centre of Barcelona.

By Bus from Barcelona Centre
Sitges is well by buses. Take Bus Number N30, from Ronda Universitat near Plaza Catalunya and from Gran Via next to Plaza Espana. The bus leaves every hour on the hour up until 4am, so you can party in Barcelona and still get the bus home.
----------------------------------------------
By Taxi from the Airport (El Prat)
Taxi's (normally Black and Yellow Mercedes) are lined up outside the arrivals hall. The average fare is approximately EUR 60 but you might find someone nice and cute to share the cost, if you are lucky. Make sure you have your destination written down clearly and hand it to the taxi driver. Otherwise he may "ms-interpret" you and take you on a round trip of Barcelona.
You then have 2 options to get to Sitges. You can take the "AutoPista" or "Por La Costa", the Motorway or via the cost road. The coast road is indeed very beautiful but can be quite a journey. However if it is your first time in Sitges then it is worth the trip, just to see how mad the Spanish boys are on their motorbikes. The views of the Mediterranean are spectacular. Allow 40 minutes for this journey. The alternative motorway option takes 20 minutes. Book Online
By Taxi from Barcelona Centre
You can hail a taxi from almost anywhere in the city. Expect the fare to cost between EUR 60 and EUR 80. Note the two options for getting to Sitges in the paragraph above.
