About the home

This authentic, rustic house in the sleepy old village of Palou on the outskirts of Sant Pere de Ribes, sits at the end of a small street of houses dating back to the late 19th century with views of vineyards and the Garraf.

Ideally situated between the sea and the mountains for guests to enjoy either, the peace and tranquillity of the local village, or the more upbeat tempo of nearby Sitges which is just 3km away. Other beaches such as Vilanova & Cubelles are also in easy reach by car or the extremely reasonably priced local bus services. Barcelona is also just 40 minutes by car, bus or train.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

Costa Brava is a lovely area to the north of Spain with some beautiful beaches and plenty of restaurants where you can relax in the sunshine and enjoy some classic Spanish dishes with some local wine. You are also close to the lively town of Barcelona with its fascinating architecture and great shopping opportunities.

The Barcelona / Sitges area

Just a few other local attractions are:
The Garraf Natural Park… acres and acres of unspoilt mountain and forest, ideal for hiking, biking or horse riding with one of the local stables.

The remains of a twelfth-century castle once ruled by the troubadour Guillem de Ribes, the once Lord, or ‘Castellan’ of Sant Pere de Ribes.

Take a guided tour of the Buddhist Monastery in Plana Novella.

“Comfortable, spacious, typical Spanish home with lots of character.” This was our second year in this lovely Rustic House which is located within easy reach of so many places, no matter what your interests are. The town has many shops, bars and restaurants you're really spoilt for choice. The host provided all the information we required for our visit and made every effort to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for her. There always seems to be a celebration going on somewhere. Both years we have been to Sitges for the firework display when thousands of people line the pavements bars and beaches, even boats come up the coast to watch, the atmosphere is just great, you have to experience it to appreciate it. There is also the Fiesta Mayor, the Saint of Sitges when parades of people dance through the streets with huge fireworks shooting out of their costumes. And, of course the human tower on the steps of the church and the beach artist that carve beautiful shapes in the sand. The beaches are clean and there are so many to choose from. I can't wait to return next year when we intend to do the trip to Montserrat a beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat.

“Wonderful holiday” Lovely comfortable accommodation with the benefit of having a computer,DVD and Wii for the children to play on. Good base to explore Barcelona which has many attractions for all the family, the Zoo, the Aquarium, F.C. Barcelona football stadium, Tibidabo amusement park and other attractions. Sandra and Kevin were extremely good hosts and they helped us a lot, including taking us to the shops, as we decided against hiring a car and ordering a taxi at the end of the holiday. A perfect holiday with brilliant weather, lovely accommodation and fantastic english speaking hosts.

“Very lovely house on the edge of the old town” We couldn't have asked for a lovelier house to celebrate Teresa'a 30th birthday in. Love the relaxed homely feel and quirky tasteful touches. Very comfortable and well equipped. This is a great base if you like to travel about a bit on holiday, as we do. We made the most of our time in the area, taking trips to the small village of Olivella through the Garraf park, Barcelona via the very scenic coast road and the Ebro Delta for a spot of bird watching (lots of flamingos) and a quick dip in the Med. We thoroughly enjoyed the St Joan festivities that were taking place whilst we were there which included a lot of vey loud drumming, music and human pyramid competitions. All in all a great place to stay with a great host who was very friendly and helpful.

“Excellent Base to visit Catalunya” We rented the house to visit our son, who lives nearby in Sabadell. The house has everything you need and more for a self-catering holiday. The host was extremely accommodating and helped us plan trips and was always on hand to give information and directions. I would highly recommend this house for anyone seeking a home from home on holiday. Please note, however, that the house is most suited to 2 adults and 2 children.
