The apartment is situated on the first floor in a beautiful old building tucked down one of the many narrow streets in the heart of the fashionable El Born. Surrounded by the best restaurants and bars in Barcelona and many unique boutiques and galleries, the area is ten minutes walk to the Port and the beach and ten minutes walk to the popular Ramblas and shopping. There is a late night super market 5 minutes walk away and plenty of bars and restaurants in the neighbouring streets.
At one end of the Passeig del Born is an impressive metal and glass structure, the former Mercat del Born covered market, while at the other end is one of the most important Gothic churches in all Catalonia, The Santa Maria del Mar, if you get lucky you may just catch a wedding there. The church can be seen from the shared roof terrace that is on the 4th floor of the building.

The Catalunia region
A mere 5 minutes away and unfolding languidly just to the east of the apartment is Parc Ciutadella, this green, tranquil oasis provides a welcome respite from the city centre. Built in the late 1860s on the site of a former military fortress (ciutadella), the park was artfully designed to offer Barcelona's citizens an experience of nature (shady corners, paths and greenhouses), recreation (rowing boats on the lake) and culture (2 museums).
The 1888 Universal Exhibition was held here and in preparation the city's great Modernista architects were brought in to work their magic. Lluís Domènech i Montaner created the eye-catching Castell dels Tres Dragons (today the Zoological Museum) and a young Antoni Gaudí helped design the flamboyant Cascade Fountain. The zoo is also found here in the park and there are 2 play areas for children.
Small, intimate, friendly and funky, 'Born' (as those in the know call it) is where just about everything fashionable is happening now - in art, clothes design, interior decoration, smart restaurants, cool cocktail lounges and chic wine bars. The heart and soul of this community is the wide open, tree-lined Passeig del Born. From the thirteenth to the seventeenth centuries, this was pretty much the main square of Barcelona, the site of the city's public festivities, which included jousting tournaments, carnivals and even the burning of heretics during the Inquisition.
At one end of the Passeig is an impressive metal and glass structure, the former Mercat del Born covered market, while at the other end is one of the most important Gothic churches in all Catalonia, Santa Maria del Mar. Although the Boquería, on the Ramblas, may be the city's most famous food market the recently refurbished Santa Caterina market is as impressive and dining there is a real treat.
Top-rate management and apartment !

I am so happy my first impressions of the managers here made me decide to stay with them. Every dealing with Claire was fast and professional, not chatty, just everything I needed to know. She also offered advice on area and also sent me photos of the street when I had asked about area. I had originally booked a dif apartment with them but it was changed near arrival date, after discussing it of course, and was happy to find everything as promised.
Claire also arranged a wonderful driver service from airport which was so appreciated that evening!
This was my second trip to Barcelona and this apartment is FANTASTIC! Fantastic location, facilities, very safe, and very well kept. The only bad thing is now I am spoiled and only want to stay here :)
The apartment was very clean, HUGE, the kitchen is so well organized and stocked, comfy furniture and the most comfy bed yet after 6 weeks of Spain and France!
There is a secure safe, and the building is very quiet. I enjoyed the roof top patio a few times ... a nice bonus ! You hear a chorus of old church bells from this place.
One thing I must add for people on thier first visit to Barcelona though ~ dont expect the polished walls and streets of your modern home. I had been sent an email by another Canadian couple who had rented in the original apt building (dif agency just same building) and warned me to stay away. They sent photos of garbage in the street, rough hallways, and urine on the street. Well, I feel bad they first didnt book with someone as reliable as Claire & George. These buildings are old and often the entrances are a bit worn but wonderful apartments inside.Second, these apartments are in residential areas...locals put thier garbage out in bags and is picked up by morning. Third, it is the drunken tourist urinating in what looks like an alley. You will find that anywhere there are these idiots. The area is old, but kept very clean...dont be put off if you arrive at night and things looks a bit rough. This is normal and by morning, everything is clean and tidy.
This apartment is right around the corner from the Picasso museum and the Modern Art Museum !! The metro is literally a minute away and fantastic food and supplies so close. Less than 10 minutes to La Boqueria and chocolate street.
I am a middle aged solo female traveller and felt 100% safe and comfy here. I felt spoiled really. Fantastic apartment !! Fantastic management !

"Couldn't ask for anything else; excellent - as expected."
Five of us stayed in this apartment for a week. We are young adults who found the apartment clean, spacious, contemporary and homely. It is located in a picturesque typically Barcelonean street, which was initially hard to find, but once we were settled - we didn't want to leave. The location is perfect - a 10 minute walk from Las Ramblas and slightly longer from the (lovely!) beach. Both Claire and Jordi really let us have a great stay. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Barcelona, and having this apartment as our base made our stay all the more relaxing and comfortable. We'll be back!

"Perfect Baecelona apartment"
This is a very well equipped apartment up a short flight of stairs in a beautiful part of old Barcelona, only about 50 metres from the greatest church in the city - Santa Maria del Mar - and one of its most picturesque squares - el born. It's in easy walking distance of Las Ramblas, the cathedral of La Seu and the beach at Barcaloneta.
There were only two of us, but we like a lot of space. The apartment can easily house six as there are two bath/shower rooms and three genuine bedrooms.
