Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is located on the coast and bounded by the Collserola ridge and rivers Besós and Llobregat. The city is less than 150 kilometers from the Pyrenees. Barcelona's location on the shores of the Mediterranean means that it enjoys a warm, welcoming climate and pleasant temperatures all year round.
Barcelona / Barcelona Beach area
Barcelona is loaded with points of interests and has a great public transit system to get you there at a reasonable cost as well. Full of museums including Picasso and Miró as well as MACBA and Catalan History Museum. It is also great for kids with a zoo, aquarium, amusement park at the top of Tibidabo and tons of outdoor parks and gardens including a castle at the top of Montjuic. There you can also see the famous Magic Fountain show and depending what month you are sure to catch a local "fiesta major" or neighborhood celebration. Don´t forget the numerous bars, discos and amazing restaurants and cafés!!!
The location is ideal, right on the Sants Station near the old harbor and just beside The Santa Monica Art Museum and the famous Cristopher Columbus Monument. The location is very convenient if you would like to explore all the interesting sights by foot. The Ramblas is a very lively area day and night. It is the Medieval centre of the city and a true labyrinth. Walk around the little streets around the Cathedral, discover the many old book and antique stores. This is the oldest part of the city so it has many charming, narrow streets and most buildings are more than 100 years old.
There are tourist shops and restaurants all around with menus in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Catalan. It is known as one of the poor districts in Barcelona but one of the most charming. Every street has a hidden bar or café to shelter you from the heat and sun. One week wouldn't even be enough to explore all the charms and secrets of this enchanting area, and we haven't even mentioned the rest of beautiful Barcelona yet.
How to get there
The Catalonian capital has very good access by all means of transport. It is communicated very well, so you can access easily without any problem.
BY AIR: Barcelona Airport (called also El Prat Airport (http://www.aena.es) is 12 km from the city. Transport connecting the airport with the city centre: - Train RENFE (http://www.renfe.es) leaves the airport every thirty minutes from 6:13 a.m to 23:40 p.m and takes some twenty minutes to arrive to the centre of Barcelona ( train stations: Sants and Cataluña Square). - There is a special bus, called' Aerobus' that connects the airport with Catalunya Square.

From the Estació del Nord we suggest you to take a taxi to the apartments. Also, metro station Arc de Triomf to Catalunya square.
BY BOAT: The port of Barcelona (www.apb.es) has direct connections with the ports of Majorca, Ibiza, Maó and Génova. It is a relatively centric port since the terminals of passenger are found at the end of the Ramblas.
BY TRAIN: Barcelona has two international train stations: Sants Station and França Station where travellers come from different European countries. Many itineraries usually have the stop at the station of Paseo de Gracia also, located in the heart of the city. (http://www.bcn.es/turisme/castella/turisme/pla_arr_hom.htm). Once we are in these stations, the metro will allow us to arrive to our destination easily.
