Ref. 149324 - Built at the turn of the century in an Art Nouveau style, this spacious four bedroom apartment is in the fifth floor (wiht a lift) in the Eixample area, just 15 minutes walk from Plaza Catalunya and Ramblas district.

The flat was renovated in May 2003, retaining its traditional character whilst offering modern facilities. Two of the double bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and there is an additional bathroom with a full sized bath and shower. The kitchen has also been restored to the highest standard. The high ceilings retain their traditional mouldings, most prominently in the dining area with its ornate plasterwork and antique chandelier.

The restored decorative encaustic tiles of the floors are set off by the plain colours of the walls, while the tall, elegant doors and louvered shutters complete the turn of the century ambience. Tall fitted wardrobes provide ample storage space. One of the nicest features of the apartment are the three balconies which look out onto the streets below, giving a sense of openness not always found in older apartment buildings in Barcelona.

The immediate area is alive with shops and restaurants, an area dominated by the hub of the Mercat Sant Antoni, one of Barcelonas best markets. This location offers all the advantages of local living, the real Catalunya, while being centrally located to the main architectural sites, museums, beaches, shopping and night life all the things Barcelona is famous for.

There are three Metro stations close by, the nearest being Poble Sec which is three minutes walk away. The other two are Sant Antoni and Rocafort.

The flat has WiFi internet connection, as well as as a telephone, from which local and national calls to fixed lines are free.

Security deposit is only accepted by credit card. Should you wish to pay in cash this will result in a 20€ surcharge.

Check-out: The latest possible time for check-out is 11h. Should you not have left the apartment before 11h you will be asked to leave immediately and you will be charged a surcharge of 50€.

In Short: modern, lively district bordering L'Eixample and the Raval.

Highlights: the colourful Modernista market of Sant Antoni, good choice of cinemas, dipping churros into hot chocolate on the pedestrianised Mistral Avenue.

Getting around: the many metro lines (red, green and purple) and only about a 10-to-15 minute walk to Plaça Catalunya and the Ramblas.

Why stay: central location but not touristy, apartments tend to be spacious, lots of local amenities.

Description: This area, which dates from the early 20th century, is an intriguing mix of its two very different neighbours. It blends something of the upmarket LEixample Esquerra with the grittier nature of the Raval. Sant Antoni has a good location but without the relentless flocks of tourist that are inevitable in more popular parts of the city. One of Barcelonas best markets, Mercat de Sant Antoni, is located here, and along with the cafes on Avinguda de Mistral it provides a social hub for the area. Access to the rest of the city from Sant Antoni couldn´t be easier with three metro lines and the centre of Barcelona (Plaça de Catalunya) only a 15-minute walk away.
