The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

Best known apart from the capital, Barcelona, is of course the Mediterranean coast, Costa Brava, with ample beaches and mild climate, doubtlessly a first rate touristical attraction. Catalonia also offers high mountain ranges, the Pyrenees in the north, the curious formations of Montserrat, the inactive volcanoes of Garrotxa, and a wide plain area in the region's centre.
Catalonia has a very marked culture of its own, most evidently of Mediterranean tradition, and is distinguished of most other Spanish regions in several aspects, not at least by its language, Catalonian (although everybody speaks and understands Castilian Spanish perfectly). Certainly it is one of the most cosmopolitan places in Spain, thanks to its long tradition of international commerce.
The coast offers ideal facilities for all sorts of water sports, but everywhere you will realize about that special talent to combine the beauty of nature or monuments with modern attractions, a main reason why Catalonia developed into one of the preferred touristical destinations.
Catalonia's excellent gastronomy is characterized by seafood, rice dishes, wines of great international reputation, and traditional desserts like the famous "Catalonian Cream".
As many other European regions, Barcelona has well defined seasons in which temperatures and general weather are fairly predictable. Being a coast city, the relative humidity level is very high, always around 70%.
The warmest season is between June to August, with temperatures that sometimes can go higher than 30 degrees (Celsius), perfect for a holiday close to the sea. Enjoy the beaches and pools, walk the city wearing light clothing or just relax and have a cold drink at the various terraces available in the city.
The Barcelona / Central Barcelona area
Between Diagonal and Pl. Catalunya is most of the "Eixample" area ("expansion" in English), which arose from the famous "Pla Cerdà" (Cerdà's city plan). After 1860, and the demolition of the city walls, Barcelona began to expand. Its new district, known as the Eixample is, without doubt, a unique example of European urban planning.
Today, the Eixample is Barcelona’s main centre: a shopping and residencial area district whose streets feature a succession of prestigious shops, art galleries, restaurants and night-time bars. L' Eixample, with its square blocks of houses forming a grid pattern, has as its main boulevard the Passeig de Gràcia, where you will find the famous "Pedrera" and "Casa Batlló" by Gaudi.

My husband and I loved this apartment. The location was great, it was the perfect size and we were thankful for internet service.

Service of Habitat is impeccable and reliable.
That's twice that I rented apartments very nice, well furnished and clean.
I recommend.

Location is great - safe and close to metro, sites, restaurants, and shops. Beds including the sofa beds are comfortable. A/C worked great and was a relief since the weather was warm.
May 2010 - Marcus
Stayed in the apartment for four days. The staff at Habitat were very accommodating due to our flight being late and missing out connection to Barcelona. The lady that met us at the apartment was fantastic...very clear with the instructions and questions..and gave us suggestions of super markets and restaurants in the area.
Place was clean and the location was perfect...away from the tourist areas but close enough so it is only 10 min walk away. Love the modern building. Only downside with the apartment was that the tv cable wasn't working at the time, I would definitely recommend using Habitat again.
