The Costa Brava/Catalonia region
The city of Barcelona needs no introduction. It is one of the most vibrant and most visited cities in Europe. It is truly a people's city with something for everyone, beach, nightlife, excellent restaurants, museums, art galleries, excellent public transport and fascinating architecture and churches spanning 9 centuries. There are also many wonderful places close by out of town, the monastery at Monserrat, the Costa Brava coastline, a myriad of fascinating medieval villages, the spectacular town of Girona, to name but a few.
Barcelona / Barceloneta area
Barceloneta is instantly recognizable on the map as the grid of streets in a triangular shape sticking out into the sea, bordered by the beach on one side and the marina on the other. It is near the old port, the impressive Ciutadella Park, a 10 minute walk to the exotic Palau de la Musica, the famous Rambla and the Gothic part of town, the cathedral and the Picasso museum. Barcelona is a compact city and pleasant to stroll around so nowhere of interest is far away, the Passeig de Gracia with the famous Gaudi buildings, Casa Batlló and Casa Mila (La Pedrera) can be reached on foot by a picturesque 30 minute stroll as can the Sagrada Familia. The city is served by excellent public transport with underground trains and buses. Buy a T10 ticket for 7.20 euros which gives you 10 rides on city buses (not Aerobus) or train including the train to the airport. There is also a tourist bus service of double decker buses which stop at most of the major sights including Park Guell, the monastery of Pedrables, Camp Nou, the Olympic village, Sacrada Familia and much more.
How to get there
Easyjet, Iberia, British Airways, Spanair, Click Air and most European carriers to El Prat, Barcelona airport. Aerobus (3.75 euros)from Barcelona El Prat airport to Plaza Catalunya (aprox 25 mins) then 15 minute walk or metro from Urquinoana to Barceloneta Station on L4 (yellow line), then 5 minute walk to apartment. Regular train service from airport to Estacion de Francia (approx 25 mins) then 7 minute walk to apartment. Taxis from Barcelona El Prat airport to Barceloneta take about 25 minutes depending on traffic and cost about 25 euros. Ryanair flies to Girona and Reus airports with connecting bus services to Barcelona (Estacion du Nord) then short walk to the apartment.

The kitchen fittings are all new and include, microwave, ceramic hob,oven, fitted kitchen cupboards, ample work surfaces, refrigerator with icebox and washing machine. The bathroom has a WC, shower and wash basin. The flat has gas central heating making it very suitable for winter breaks.
Further details outdoors: The flat is in an original 19th century "finca" typical of the Barceloneta area. It is in a pedestrian only street in the heart of Barceloneta.
