Enquire nowThe Costa Brava/Catalonia/Barcelona region
Catalonia, Spain has a distinct regional identity that borrows little form the rest of Spain. Catalans have their own language, and are intensely proud of their unique art, cuisine, folklore and long history. Ask the Catalans themselves and many will tell you that Catalonia is not a region but a nation. Not surprisingly, rivalry between the Catalans and the rest of Spain is an ongoing part of this country's history.
Catalans pride themselves on good eating too, and you will find some of Spain's finest restaurants here. Catalan food is typically Mediterranean, featuring olive oil as its staple component. As the region is so geographically diverse, it provides a variety of fresh high quality meat, poultry, game, seafood, fruit and vegetables and a great variety of wild mushrooms.
All in all Catalonia offers no end of opportunities for day trips and adventures, which together with its excellent communications, makes of Catalonia a top-class tourist destination in Europe.
The Barcelona / Gothic Quarter area
Directly on the coast you will find the metropolitan city of Barcelona. It is the second largest city on Spain. A modern, cosmopolitan city, but has inherited many centuries of history. You will always find something to do in Barcelona. It is full of surprises for adults as well as for the children and will keep you entertained with countless cultural and recreational activities throughout the year. The city is the only big European city with a large sandy beach, basically in the centre of town. Combined with the winding streets of the old town (Barri Gotic), and the pounding big-city life of large shopping streets and virtually a café on every corner - Barcelona is probably the most exciting city in Spain, perhaps in all of Europe.
A short introduction to Barcelona is impossible, and a presentation of the multitude of possibilities and experiences the city has to offer even more so. We have tried to make a short introduction the city, but above all we have tried to provide you with ideas and knowledge about activities in the city. Please contact us, if you have any questions. There is really only one good advice we can give you. Come see for yourself!
For the Children
This city is also full of surprises for you younger visitors. Barcelona has a magic mountain: Tibidabo. You can take your parents to the Tibidabo Amusement Parkwhere you can ride the merry-go-round, and see a puppet show. Se other water and Theme parks in Barcelona and Catalonia
At the zoo is one of the best in Europe, guaranteed to excite kids of all ages. It even holds dolphin show! But one of the places where you can see the most fish is L'Aquàrium. You can walk through a tunnel under the water and see sharks and fish of all shapes and sizes. Don´t miss it!
If this is one of your first visits to Barcelona, you will never go wring with a stroll around the old quarter (Barri Gotic). Theres is a perfect little cafe virtually on every corner. Go look and you will find. This is in our experience the best way to get the feel for Barcolona. If you prefer planning ahead; the Timeout guide is a good place to start.
The city has over 50 museums (and 300 in Catalonia), showcasing permanent collections of works by artists such as Picasso, Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies. At the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) you can see one of the world's most important collections of Romanesque art. It also has famous collections of contemporary art housed in museums such as the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) and CaixaForum. Most museums stage temporary exhibitions.
