Tenuta la Cipresseta
About the home
The apartment is situated in the heart of Chianti Classico in the natural Sant’Agnese resort, where there are splendid hills covered by cypresses that are reproduced naturally. A pleasant, relaxing and magic environment is created by the atmosphere typical of this land with its colures, the landscape, the view, the absence of roads in the surrounding area (the only road to reach the place ends in the woods and no roads can be seen from the villa), the cypress, the ilex and the oak tree woods, the vineyards and the olive groves that surround the villa. The garden contains a fine cypress wood, lots of olive and fruit trees and is enhanced by beds of multicoloured rose bushes and aromatic plants.
The place is the ideal for those who love to stay in the heart of Chianti Classico, be it to enjoy a completely relaxing holiday or to discover the delights of Tuscany. As a matter of fact, you can enjoy the peace of country life, indulge in strolls among the olives, vines and cypress trees and discover light, barely perceivable hills crossed by pathways and dirt tracks. The place is also the perfect starting point for day trips: you can visit the nearby Tuscan cities of art (Florence 35 km., Siena 30 km., San Gimignano 15 km., Volterra 40 km., Monteriggioni 20 km. etc.), not to mention the small hamlets and medieval villages, evocatively steeped in tradition, on which the history of the Chianti Classico area is based and which have made it famous throughout the world. The place is easily reached from the major roads and is adapted to any requirement; it has easy access to all amenities, including the local market , and many excellent restaurants for eating out.

The Tuscany / Firenze Province region
Of all the regions of Italy, Tuscany is probably the most renowned worldwide thanks to its rich historical and cultural patrimony, as well as its breathtaking landscapes and sceneries. Famous worldwide for the impressive number of monuments and works of art are its cities: Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca and other small towns such as San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Volterra, Certaldo, Montalcino, not to mention the small medieval villages or hamlets, as they are often called, typical of the Chianti region, authentic and definitely well-preserved jewels.
Points of interest in the surroundings:
- the cities of Florence and Siena, renowned worldwide and only within 20-30 minutes driving distance;
- San Gimignano (15 km far and within 10 minutes driving distance), patrimony of the UNESCO, a medieval hamlet with fourteen towers, rich in art (frescoes, monumental churches, works of art); definitely a town with a glorious past that testifies to the convergence of the traditions of Florence and Siena;
- Monteriggioni (15 km far), a medieval hamlet enclosed by particular and extraordinary boundary walls, well-preserved and even mentioned by Dante Alighieri.
- Volterra (35 km far), rich in Medieval and Renaissance monuments, features a Roman-Etruscan legacy that traces back to prehistoric times.
The Barberino Val d'Elsa / Monsanto area
The property is located in the municipality of Barberino Val d'Elsa, instead of Monsanto, in the heart of Chianti Classico, a geographic area between the provinces of Florence and Siena, famous for red wine.
Barberino Val d'Elsa is located along the ancient Via Cassia, between Florence and Siena, the top of the valley from which it takes its name. It is a medieval village, untouched, locked in the walls of a fortified enclosure.
Suggestions of the past and the art is also found in the villages, churches and castles scattered throughout the Tuscan countryside; Monsanto is an example where there is a perfectly intact castle, castle Paneretta.
Of particular interest is the chapel of Saint - Michele Arcangelo, built in 1597, a perfect 1:8 scale replica of the cupola of the Duomo in Florence.
Care and quality of the environment are the common denominator of the premises.
Barberino Val d'Elsa was founded by the Republic of Florence as a castle, in a strategic position along the Via Cassia, the town was founded after the destruction of the Florentine troops Semifonte fortress, stronghold of the Alberti, destruction in 1202.
Thanks to its location along an important road Barberino Val d'Elsa became a major center of the Florentine countryside
It is worthwhile to include in your itinerary even the small medieval towns like San Donato in Poggio, Certaldo (Boccaccio’s birth place), Castellina in Chianti, Panzano in Chianti, Greve in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, the Chianti Classico Wine Road and the Chianti Castles route. Moving southwards, you will find many other important places to visit apart from Siena such as Montalcino, Montepulciano and Pienza. The town of Montelupo Fiorentino, situated in the immediate vicinities of Certaldo, is famous worldwide for the production of pottery. The following activities can be organised nearby: - Horse riding - Flights in private aircraft or hot-air balloons - Tennis - Golf - Trips on Mountain bikes - Guided wine tasting/gastronomic tours - Wine tasting visits to local cellars.
The Chianti region is a wonderful place to live in, both summer and winter. It has a benign and mild microclimate with pleasant temperatures all year round and therefore allows for pleasurable tours even during low season, when the hamlets and main towns of Tuscany are less crowded. During the autumn, you can admire the warm colors in nature or the vivid green during the awakening of spring, when the towns are bustling with life. Besides the high summer season, spring and autumn are optimum times to visit this area. The Chianti region represents a true lifestyle, the culture of beauty and pleasure.
We suggest you visit all the small hamlets of the Chianti region at any time of the day, in particular during the evening when the sun sets. It is very pleasant to dine in the typical restaurants of the region (even outdoors if the weather allows so), where you can admire the colors of twilight that truly make this land so magic and special. Adults and children alike will be fascinated. Another aspect of this region worth mentioning is the traditional Italian cuisine; the area is full of typical restaurants, more or less exclusive, where you can enjoy a real steak “alla fiorentina” as well as various types of roast meat.
