Home description
You will discover Villa Firenze an impressive fifteenth century building surrounded by a historic Italian park as you make your way up the long driveway.
Villa Firenze is situated on the declivity of the Calvana mounts, in the west Mugello area, easily reachable from the tollgate of Barberino di Mugello on the Highway A1 (3 Km). The Villa dates back to the XIV century, with a rectangular shape, looks still like a small fortress, prettified by beautiful 500 century windows and a large front with the carved cornice. There is a noble chapel that is dedicated to the Virgin and Mary Saint Christine.
The area is sourronded by woodlands, meadows, paths, ideal for relaxing walks, with a large garden (3.500 mq.) and lighted pool (6x12)
On the lower floor is the former sausage chamber with its vaulted ceiling, which now serves as the main kitchen. Both of the kitchens are well equipped with ovens, freezers, dishwashers and washing machines. The entire villa has approximately 500 of living space and is furnished with antique furniture.
Once you pass through the wrought-iron gates, you will be guided by cypress trees, which line the way to the villa and are over a century old.
You will immediately be drawn to the large terrace-shaped garden, which reveals a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape.
The garden offers countless areas in which you may sunbathe or seek shelter. Scattered throughout the estate you will find fountains with goldfish and there is, of course, a large swimming pool.
From the forecourt, you reach the inner courtyard through an arch. To the left there is a chapel and to the right a staircase which leads to the superintendent's residence.
The superintendent is in charge of keeping everything in working order on the estate, as well as the daily housekeeping of your quarters. The 100m² snooker room with 5m high ceilings acts as the entrance to the apartment. From this room you can reach nearly all of the other rooms, some of which are accessible through various entrances.
The surrounding countryside offers a variety of opportunities for sightseeing. Approximately 10 km away there is a large reservoir where one may bathe, fish, surf or sail. Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Bologna, Lucca and the coast are all within easy reach.

The Tuscany region
Situated just at a short distance from Florence, Mugello is a small and unspoiled paradise (1667 sq mt) where every nook of land shows an interplay between nature and art.
Its fifteen towns are distributed among three distinct geographical areas: San Piero a Sieve, Vaglia, Scarperia and Vicchio in Mugello; Palazzuolo sul Senio, Firenzuola and Marradi in Upper Mugello; Dicomano, Londa, San Godenzo, Rufina, Pelago and Pontassieve in Valdisieve. A whalebone fixed to the facade of a house at Cafaggiolo - near the Medicean castle – would prove that Mugello was formerly a salt lake, stretching from Pratolino to Dicomano; its name ,"Mugello", derives from that branch of the Ligurians known as "Magelli" who were the first inhabitants of this valley, then followed by the Etruscans and the Romans.
During the Middle Age Mugello was a manor, and later on a possession of the Florentine Republic until the Medicis – the powerful family that left a deep mark on this territory – rose to power. Art, history, nature and delcious food.
You can find traces of history worthy of a great European capital. Along the river Sieve centres of ancient origins and complex foundation rise at close distances.
Important Etruscan areas became a place of settlements and villages in Roman times.
