Home description
Laharandota has been thoughtfully restored from an existing farm complex, comprising a detached cottage, stone outbuilding with utilities, an old stone loft/barn (The Studio) and a green house, all enjoying spectacular views over Dunmanus Bay and the West Cork countryside. Many original features have been retained to create a unique and peaceful atmosphere which compliments the surrounding land and sea.
This beautiful detached cottage and barn are nestled on the hillside, surrounded by a large, private garden with wonderful sea views. The garden features a stream, pond and outdoor pool, stone corral with barbeque and patio area equipped with garden furniture.
Inside the cottage there are three bedrooms (a double, twin and a single), downstairs loo, family bathroom, en suite shower room, open-plan kitchen/living room, study with sofa bed and sun room with sea views.
The Studio is a separate self-contained unit next to the Cottage. Inside there is a kitchen lounge area with sun room attached with sea views. The sun room has its own en suite shower room and iron day bed with trundle to form a king or twin bedroom. Upstairs is a king bedroom with sea views and en-suite shower room.

The County Cork region
A finger of land 25 miles long and no wider than four miles, the Sheep's Head Peninsula (known locally as Muntervary or Rinn Mhuintir Bháire in Irish), is set between the blue water bays of Bantry and Dunmanus: a visually striking part of the West Cork coastline. From the stony heights of Seefin Mountain to rolling pastures and sea cliffs, the peninsula offers great land and seascapes. Laharandota is just 2 miles from the southern end, where the Sheep's Head Lighthouse clings to its jagged tip, 400 feet above the surf. Take a moment to soak in the balmy (yes, balmy!) breezes: the Gulf Stream nips Ireland along this coast, explaining the presence of palm trees in the cottage's garden as in many others.
Stroll down the lane from the cottage directly on to The Sheep's Head Way, one of Ireland's 31 Waymarked Ways (marked trails). The peninsula's natural wild beauty makes its 55 mile trail stand out from others and offers an exciting challenge for all keen walkers. If, however, you do not fancy yourself as a 'wild rover', there's always riding, cycling, sailing, kayaking, diving, golf, cookery classes or just a relaxing afternoon taking in the fabulous Cork countryside and sea views!
Bantry / Sheeps Head Peninsula area
Laharandota is located on the southern side of the Sheep’s Head Peninsula, about 4 miles south west of the village of Kilcrohane and 15 miles from the bustling market town of Bantry, West Cork. The propoerty is ideally located for touring the West Cork area, for walking, cycling or sailing with it's many walking routes, scenic drives, coves and bays. West Cork attractions include Garinish Island and Glengariff, the Sheep's Head and Mizen Head, as well as the town of Bantry, with its many shops, great restaurants, bars and cinema. The area is also well known for its raw natural beauty, attracting walkers, artists and anyone with a love for the outdoors to the area. Within a short drive from the property is the village of Kilcrohane, with its quay and coves for bathing, two pubs, shop and local church as well as the Sheep's Head Lighthouse and Way, which passes directly behind and in front of the cottage's gardens.
Fly to Cork or Kerry Laharandota is a 2-3 hour scenic drive from both airports Cheap flights available from Aer Lingus, Aer Arann & Ryanair Car hire companies located at both airports & in Bantry Local buses run regularly between Cork Airport & Bantry

Guestbook
"We had a fabulous time. The setting was wonderful and the cottage was just gorgeous. Daniel loved his cute little bedroom. He was even brave enough to swim in the pool!" Pamela & Roger, Glasgow (July 2008)
"Thank you for providing such a welcoming, comfortable taste of rustic charm for we city-dwellers. We all loved everything about the cottage. Of course the swimming pool is the icing on the cake - luckily the weather was glorious so we chilled out and lazed by the pool or braved its invigorating freshness!" John & Susan, Edinburgh (July 2008)
"Just a note to say how much we enjoyed the cottage. It is in a beautiful and unspoilt location and the views across the bay are something to remember. The quality of the finish and furnishing in The Artists' Cottage are incredible, really beautiful. We had some really lovely times there and we will remember it with great affection." Susan & Phil, Hampshire (August 2008)
"A big thank you for the use of The Artists' Cottage. It certainly is a very lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Thank you for the warm welcome and tray of goodies etc. We enjoyed and appreciated everything about the place. Truly amazing. Weather was pretty good, too!" Phil & Lydia, Bristol (August 2008)
