The Province of Munster region

County Cork is situated in South West Ireland. It is the biggest of all the Irish counties and has lots of things to do in the local area. There are plenty of Rich farmlands and river valleys which contrast dramatically with the beautiful sandstone hills of the west,.

There is also the magnificent coastline which is surrounded and fretted by the Atlantic into great bays and secret coves, strewn with rocky headlands and long beautiful golden sands.

Bantry

Scenery: This area of West Cork is one of the most beautiful areas in Ireland with notable wildlife and animals, that are rearely seen in other parts of the country.

This area is perfect for sea-fishing. Sheeps Head, the nearest being Gortnakilla pier which is within a mile of the house.

There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the area as well.

The Sheep's Head, the Beara peninsula and South West Donegal are famous for being the best walking areas in Ireland. The Sheep's Head Way is a walking route that has been developed over the years with different routes marked out across the hills and mountains of sheep's head.

Boat Trips: For those interested in boating, boat trips are available to a number of places such as Whiddy Island where the boats depart from Bantry pier. One of Ireland's largest off shore islands is Cape Clear and this can be accessed from boats departing the small town of Skull. There are also boat trips around the famous Fastnet lighthouse around where the yacht race sales.

There is a small pebble beach a few miles away. The enarest sandy beach, Barleycove beach, is a great place to go for a day trip. When there, take the opportunity to visit Mizen Head; the most southerly point in Ireland. The dramatic Fastnet Rock is visible on clear days.

The sheep's head is a famous Irish walking and cycling route.
