The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region

Surrounded by one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains-Pirin,a National Reserve Park, protected by UNESCO. There is an abundance of lakes. Walkers and birdwatchers visit during the summer as well as thousands of tourists interested in this important cultural centre. Winter is dominated by skiers of all levels. Over 50 Million Euro has been invested directly in the area . Bansko is one of the biggest names in Bulgarian tourism; it is not only a base for superb skiing but also excellent hiking during the summer. Bansko is home to more than 150 cultural monuments. Hiking in the Pirin Mountains is breathtaking! Marked hiking trails ,13 primary and 17 secondary,link 13 huts and shelters throughout the park. The Sveta Troitsa Church is a must see and is Banskos major landmark. Average temperatures in the summer are between 25-30 Degrees with Winter as low as -15 Degrees.

Bansko / Todora Towers area

Bansko has over 120 traditional restaurants called mehanas. These offer a wealth of Bulgarian foods and wines as well as traditional music performed by local musicians. Visiting the Rila Monastery is a must do. This is Bulgaria`s largest and most renowned monastery hidden away in a narrow and forested valley in the Rila Mountains. Its approx 50 minute drive from Bansko.

If its the healthy lifestyle you like you will not be disappointed. Bikes are available locally for hire and horse riding lessons are available for all levels. Other than the obvious activities such as skiing and snow boarding during the winter months, the annual Jazz festival held each year in August attracts musicians and tourists from all over the world.

How to get there

Bansko is just a 2 hour drive from Sofia Airport. Follow the A1 south taking a left just after Simitli. The beautiful town of Bansko awaits you just 40 minutes from here.There are many Car Rental companies available. Rentomobile Ltd is just one and is based in Sofia. There are no drop off or collection charges. Alternatively we can help organize transfers to and from your accommodation at approx 35-40 GBP per person return.
