This beautiful 2 bedroomed Ski Chalet is positioned on the pinnacle of the 4star Hotel Katarino Spa Complex with uninterrupted mountain views. The property is finished to the highest luxury standards in Bulgarian pine complete with top quality furniture & equipment including access to a real open log fire, personal terrace & seating area and private garden.
It sits high up on the hillside with spectacular views over the forest covered slopes of the Pirin, Rila and the Rhodope mountains.
The cabin is situated within the grounds of one of the finest 4 star hotels in the region, The Hotel Katarino Spa. Bansko town centre is approx. 5 kms away and the Hotel provides a courtesy shuttle bus which runs every 15 minutes to the bottom of the gondola and back (approx.10 min shuttle ride).

The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Bansko town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has narrow cobbled streets with stone houses, 120 cultural monuments, museums and permanent ethnographic exhibitions. In the centre is The Holy Trinity church with its 30 m high bell tower and clock, splendid murals and woodcarvings. In summer hiking, climbing and horse riding are popular. There are well signed routes and hikers' chalets. Mountain bikes can be hired in order to explore this beautiful region. Local companies can organise trips in the mountains e.g. white water rafting, canoeing, paragliding. Also in summer the town hosts a week long jazz festival and other events. For après ski the traditional Bansko tavern ("Mehana"), with their exceptional charm and style offer local atmosphere with their cuisine and good selection of Bulgarian wines. Most of the local "Mehanas" even offer live folk music. A visit or two to these is a must! Discos and night clubs work without time limit, and usually close early in the morning.
Bansko / Razlog area
The Ski area is excellent for beginners and intermediates. For snowboarders and the more advanced skiers there is challenging off piste. The Ulen Ski and Snowboard School or Bansko Sport offer good tuition, particularly for children. Lessons in a group of 2 to 4 people are about 5 EUR (3.50 GBP) per hour. The Ian Woosnam Design Pirin Golf Holiday Club complex is two miles away and is due to open in 2007. As the cost of living is very cheap in Bulgaria, your money will go several times further here than in skiing resorts in other parts of Europe.
How to get there
SOFIA is the main Airport 160km away from the resort. Transfer time from SOFIA to BANSKO is approx. 1.5 to 2.5 hours dependent on traffic and time of day. Various airlines fly to SOFIA: www.wizzair.com and more recently EasyJet from Gatwick with one flights as little as £27.99 incl. taxes!!!) Car hire is available from www.bulgariacarrent.com or www.rentacarbulgaria.com. Alternatively we can also organise private airport transfers (mini-bus) from 190Lev (each way day time rate - seats up to 8 people including luggage)

Further details indoors: It has a fully fitted kitchen with oven, microwave, toaster and refrigerator. Dining: Seating for 4. The dining room is furnished in a rustic style with dining table and chairs. Eating out in Bulgaria is also extremely good value. In the living room there is an open fire, logs can be provided daily. Ample seating is available including a sofa bed, cable TV, Play Station 2, CD & DVD player. There are 2 good size double bedrooms with large fitted wardrobes including extra overhead storage space and tables. The second bedroom benefits from magnificent south facing mounting views!! The Cabin is extremely well insulated and has central heating, there will be a maid service once a week and the complex has a laundry facility for use. Lastly there is a personal enclosed garden with hedged surroundings and personal patio area with seating. The complex has facilities that provide ski hire or can be used for the storage of ski equipment.

All the facilities of this brand new Spa hotel are available to guests of Chalet (some local charges apply for spa treatments).
The cabin has a balcony overlooking its' own private south facing garden with lounges to enjoy summer sun. It's typically 30oC in the summer, whilst temperatures fall dramatically in the winter ski season. This is truly an all year round holiday destination.
Onsite facilities include restaurant, pub "Mehana", two conference halls, lobby bar, hairdressers, ski room, table tennis, pool, souvenir shop and internet club(free). The sports centre has: indoor swimming pool (22m x 5.6m), outdoor pool, three bowling alleys, fitness centre, sauna, solarium, steam bath, massage room. The open area sports facilities include a tennis court for small children there's a multi functional play ground and an animal enclosure.
Ski and snowboard equipment can be hired at the hotel (cheaper than at the Gondola!)
Bansko is approx. 5-6 kms away; there is a courtesy shuttle bus (10 minute bus ride) which runs every 15 minutes to the bottom of the gondola and back.
Bansko is the newest and the most rapidly developing ski resorts in Bulgaria. 40 million Euros have been invested, to create a top rate facility with the best equipment, including a new gondola, snow guns, electronic ski pass system etc. There are 14 pistes totalling 65km, including a 16 km run plus cross country and excellent off piste skiing. Bansko is popular with snowboarders; facilities include a half pipe. There is a top class ski school for all levels of ability. The ski season is one of the longest; roughly mid December until the end of April.
The Katarino Spa Hotel is self contained with everything you could want for a fulfilling holiday experience, but for those wishing to explore there are high quality traditional taverns offering fantastic food, but also nightclubs and bars for a livelier evening in Bansko.
