Why not enjoy a week in this beautifully restored village house situated only 15 km (approx 15mins drive) from the resort of Bansko.
There are numerous local shops in the village for all your basic supplies which are all in walking distance or a supermarket in Bansko which covers most things you'll require. There are a few local Mehanas (restaurants/tavernas) situated in the village, plus there are over 100 in Bansko itself, which all offer an excellent range of food.
Winter or summer Eleshnitsa is an excellent base for seeing the local places of interest. The rescue centre for Dancing bears, through the village of Belitza (approx 10km) has spectacular views of the Pirin mountains, and is great to see how the bears are adapting to their natural habitat.
Walking, skiing, snowboarding,swimming,white water rafting,horse riding,paragliding,mountain biking, whatever you decide to do the whole area will give you a stress free break.
Why not make your stay easier with having someone look after you for the week. Pick you up from the airport, provide breakfast each day, then drive you to the slopes and collect you at the end of your skiing day. The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Nestling amongst the western foot hills of the Rhodopi mountains, 15km northeast of the ski resort of Bansko (at the foot of the Pirin mountains) and 10km from the village of Dobrinishte is the village of Eleshnitsa. Eleshnitsa is located in the Blagoevgrad district (South - West Bulgaria) along the stream of Zlataritsa River, which has existed since the Middle Ages. One of the most interesting landmarks of the village is the "St.Atanas" church, which was built in 1935.
Bansko / Eleshnitsa area
The economy of the village is based upon several small enterprises for wood production and processing, there is a dairy factory producing the well known Bulgarian yellow cheese, as well as other light industrial companies.
However this old mining town is also the venue for some of the most remarkable Kukeri celebrations in the country, which take place here on Easter Sunday instead of January, the usual time for their enactment elsewhere. There are many hot mineral water springs, which are used for hygienic and health needs. There is a swimming pool to the north end of the village, which is again filled during the summer months with the mineral water from the springs, so no need for heating and great for the skin.
There is a small museum in the village with about 9000 exhibits from the village history to view. There are two small traditional family run hotels in the village, who’s owners will make you all very welcome.
The population of Eleshnitsa is approximately 1700 and the hospitality and friendliness of the local people make you feel extremely welcome. All the native customs and traditions are clear to see and make a stay in Eleshnitsa a very relaxing and stress free time.
If you want a relaxing break and enjoy walking or outdoor pursuits then this village is a wonderful base. If you are a keen skier then the ski resort of Bansko is a 15minute drive away, where you will find a modern state of the art lift system leading to 70km of marked pistes. The ski season runs from approximately 20th December through to the middle of April, very similar to the rest of Europe. If you fancy a summer break then this region again is a great base. There are numerous marked mountain walks in the Pirin mountains above Bansko and from the summer of 2009 there will be marked mountain bike trails. There is also an opportunity to paraglide up in the mountains if you feel brave enough. There is a large swimming pool in Eleshnitsa, it has an excellent bar which also provides light food as well, then only 10km away in the village of Dobrinishte there is a modern swimming pool with all the facilities you could ask for. If you feel like a trip to the sea then the Greek coastal port of Kavala is only 2 ½ hrs drive with a ferry available to take you to Thassos in half an hour, if you fancy going that bit further.
Bulgaria has many opportunities for the budding artists amongst you. The wonderful traditionally built properties and fantastic barns littering the countryside are immense and make great subjects for sketching or painting.
There is a wonderful Dancing Bear rescue centre which is approximately 15km away through the vilage of Belitsa which is well worth a visit.

There is a large enclosed split level garden at the rear of the house. There is also an old tradtional barn in the garden which can be used for ski storage. Ideal for BBQs and relaxing on pine table and seating, with large lawned area.
The village of Eleshnitsa Nestles amongst the western foot hills of the Rhodopi mountains, 15km northeast of the ski resort of Bansko and 10km from the village of Dobrinishte. It takes approximately 15 mins to get to the Gondola station in Bansko.
There are a few Mehanas in the village and an excellent one in Dobrinishte. There is a thermally heated swimming pool 200 metres from the house which serves drinks light bar food.
A complimentory welcome pack including wine, beer and breakfast foods will be provided for your arrival. All linen and towels are provided.
