The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Bansko town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has narrow cobbled streets with stone houses, 120 cultural monuments, museums and permanent ethnographic exhibitions. In the centre is The Holy Trinity church with its 30 m high bell tower and clock, splendid murals and woodcarvings.
In summer hiking, climbing and horse riding are popular. There are well signed routes and hikers' chalets. Mountain bikes can be hired in order to explore this beautiful region. Local companies can organise trips in the mountains e.g. white water rafting, canoeing, paragliding. In summer the town hosts a beer festival, a week long jazz festival, European biathlon championships and other events.
In winter, Bansko hosts a number of events including Europa Cup skiing. The town is in the process of bidding to host the winter Olympics. For après ski the traditional Bansko taverns ("Mehana"), with their exceptional charm and style offer local atmosphere with a combination of local and European cuisine and good selection of Bulgarian wines. Many "Mehanas" offer live folk music. A visit (or two!) to these is a must!
Discos and night clubs are available for the young (and young at heart).
Bansko / Razlog area
Bansko is a lovely town full of history and culture. The people are friendly, welcoming and very hospitable.
The Ski area is excellent for beginners and intermediates. For snowboarders and the more advanced skiers there are challenging off piste areas. The Ulen Ski and Snowboard School or Bansko Sport offer good tuition, particularly for children. Lessons in a group of 2 to 4 people are about 5 EUR (3.50 GBP) per hour.
The Ian Woosnam Pirin Golf Club complex is 100 feet away from the apartment. There are further golf courses near by.
Examples of great days out are a visit to the Rila Monastery for culture, or a visit to the Dobrenishte Spa pool for its beneficial properties.
The cost of living remains very cheap in Bulgaria and your money will go much further here than in skiing resorts in other parts of Europe. (For example - 50 cl beer - £1; Meal for 4 - £20)
How to get there
SOFIA is the main Airport 160km away from the resort.
Transfer time from SOFIA to BANSKO is approx. 2 to 2.5 hours dependent on traffic and time of day.
Various airlines fly to SOFIA: www.skyeurope.com, www.wizzair.com and more recently EasyJet from Gatwick and Manchester (in winter), with flights as little as £27.99 incl. taxes!!!
Car hire is available from www.bulgariacarrent.com or www.rentacarbulgaria.com. Alternatively we can also organise private airport transfers from Sofia to the apartment - cost is approximately 65 euros.
A regular bus service runs from Sofia to Bansko at approx £9 return!

Further details indoors: This apartment has a fitted kitchenette with oven, toaster and refrigerator. Heating is via electric heaters.
Ample seating is available from a sofa bed and settee. A TV and a DVD player are free to use. Dining: Seating for 4. The dining area is furnished in a modern style with dining table and chairs. Remember, eating out in Bulgaria is still extremely good value - YOU ARE ON HOLIDAY AFTER ALL!
The bedroom is a very generous size and the large double bed is extremely comfortable. There is a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and bed-side tables. The bedroom benefits from wonderful views. There will be a maid service once a week and a laundry service is available. A private ski locker is situated on the ground floor directly below the apartment.
The shower room is warm and pleasant and includes the essential sink and toilet.
Further details outdoors: The complex has a spa, hot tub, sauna, bar and restaurant.
All the facilities of this brand new Spa Complex are available to guests of the apartment (some local charges apply for spa treatments). On site facilities include sauna, steam room, massage, hot tub, restaurant, lobby bar, ski room.
Bansko Gondola Station is approx. 8 kms away; there is a courtesy shuttle bus (10 minute bus ride) which runs regularly to the bottom of the Gondola and back.
Bansko is the newest and the most rapidly developing ski resorts in Bulgaria. Millions of Euros are being invested to create a top rate facility with the best equipment, including a new gondola, snow guns, electronic ski pass system etc.
There are 15 pistes totalling 70km, including a 16 km run plus cross country and excellent off piste skiing. Bansko is popular with snowboarders and facilities include a snow board park. There is a top class ski school for all levels of ability. The ski season is one of the longest; roughly mid-December until mid-April.

An English Manager will meet you on your arrival and will show you around the apartment and the complex.
You will have fresh towels and linen on arrival and this will be changed on your departure.
The English Manager, separate to the complex management, will be available at any time should you require any assistance or advice.
Conditions
A meet and greet service, full final clean and linen change are included in the rental price.
