Home description
Bansko village is nestled in the midst of 3 mountain ranges, Pirin, Rila and Rhodope. The village is quaint, with its original stone buildings and cobbled streets. It is full of character, with its architecture AND people.
5 - 8 minutes walk and you are at the ski gondola. All equipment can be hired on the walk to the gondola or at the gondola itself. One of the best things about skiing in Bansko is that you can ski back down into the village.
The apartment is bright and modern with great views of the pirin mountains. It is cosy at night with a light airy feel during the day.
Everything is here for a self-catering holiday. TV. Microwave/toaster, coffee maker, cooker with oven. 2 single beds in the large, bright bedroom. 1 double bed settee in the living area. Dining table with seating for 4.
A 2 minute walk from the apartment will take you to the centre of this wonderful village. It has kept all the original buildings but still has everything to offer the modern tourist.
Restaurants are everywhere with the local meat dishes, served by costumed waiters costing around £5. Kebabs are a must as they arrive on skewers with flames! The restaurants offer children a choice of smaller adult meals as well as a menu of their own.
Bansko is ideal for any family holiday.
There is a steam room, sauna and gym in the building, these are free for people in the apartment.
The famous Strazhite hotel is just 2 minutes walk away. Use of the pool, gardens, steam etc is available for a minimal fee.
We can also help with bookings for up to 12 which can be placed in 3 adjacent apartments.

The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Summer temperatures can reach mid 30s and cooler in mountains for walking.
The village, set at an altitude of 1936 metres, with views of mountains around every corner, is peaceful and full of charm.
The many shops sell souveniers, clothes, crafts and the antique shops have some very good war memorabalia.
Dont forget the coffee shops, or the village square, with its fountains and rug sellers., lots of places to relax and see the real Bansko.
Belista Bear Sanctuary is worth a visit, 33 kilometres from Bansko in the Rila mountain range, this was opened with the support of Briget Bardot and houses many dancing bears rescued from all over Europe. It is in many acres of woodland so is a perfect day out for all the family.
45 km will take you to the Rila Monastary. This is one of the most visited places in all of Bulgaria. It was founded by the famous hermit, and Patron Saint of Bulgaria, St John of Rila.
The interesting wine village of Melnik is well worth a visit, the wine has been famous since 1300s !
For anyone wanting an energetic holiday Bansko is the place, whether in summer or winter. Summer brings a list of holiday past times equalling and perhaps out shining many other holiday destinations.
Something for everyone and with plenty of charm..........
Bansko / Bansko Old Town area
During the winter Bansko is primarily a ski resort. The apartment is 5 minutes walk to the gondola.
The ski season, from December to mid May is one of the longest and best in Europe.
The village caters for all ranges of skiers. There are lots of ski schools and ski rental shops. You can also hire everything at the gondola station.
You can enjoy hot mulled wine and a nice meal in the apres ski which are up on the slopes.
Still nothing beats skiing straight down to the village and entering a warm menhana with a glowing fire and the smell of your meal beckoning!
There is an ice-rink and ten pin bowling within 3 minutes walk.
The medieval village of Bansko is packed with the Mehanas (restaurants) .If anyone could tell me how many there are, I would be very grateful! These eating houses are wonderful. With locally produced food at very reasonable prices.
Local meat dishes, served by costumed waiters costing around £5. Kebabs are a must as they arrive on skewers with flames! The restaurants offer children a choice of smaller adult meals as well as a menu of their own.
This is very often to the accompaniment of Bansko muscians who definitely play to their audience!
There are also many modern night clubs for the young at heart although these do not take away from the charm of the old village.
Bansko village is alive with traditional churches, architecture and shops. These range from clothes to souveneir and real bulgarian craft shops. There are over 110 monuments in the old town alone.
The village itself is a little peaceful haven, just a quiet walk down one of the many cobbled streets and your worries will be gone. Stop at a coffee bar, or outside a Mehana for a delicious dessert......... then on to the shops maybe for some bargains, from the many ski, outdoor clothes shops, or from the market square where you can buy any thing, or mostly anything, and at great prices.
If you want a holiday which wont cost the earth when you get there Bansko is for you.
The locals are friendly and helpful, Blagodarya ( thankyou ) goes a long way.
There is a steam room, sauna and gym in the building, these are free for people in the apartment.
The famous Strazhite hotel is just 2 minutes walk away. Use of the pool, gardens, steam etc is available for a minimal fee.
We can give details of local churches etc.
