The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Bansko town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has narrow cobbled streets with stone houses, 120 cultural monuments, museums and permanent ethnographic exhibitions. In the centre is The Holy Trinity church with its 30 m high bell tower and clock, splendid murals and woodcarvings.
In summer hiking, climbing and horse riding are popular. There are well signed routes and hikers' chalets. Mountain bikes can be hired in order to explore this beautiful region. Local companies can organise trips in the mountains e.g. white water rafting, canoeing, paragliding. Also in summer the town hosts a week long jazz festival and other events.
For après ski the traditional Bansko tavern ("Mehana"), with their exceptional charm and style offer local atmosphere with their cuisine and good selection of Bulgarian wines. Most of the local "Mehanas" even offer live folk music. A visit or two to these is a must! Discos and night clubs work without time limit, and usually close early in the morning.
Bansko / Razlog area
Bansko is a fantastic town full of history and culture.
The Ski area is excellent for beginners and intermediates. For snowboarders and the more advanced skiers there is challenging off piste. The Ulen Ski and Snowboard School or Bansko Sport offer good tuition, particularly for children. Lessons in a group of 2 to 4 people are about 5 EUR (3.50 GBP) per hour. The Ian Woosnam Pirin Golf Club complex is 100 feet away from the apartment. There are further golf courses near by.
A great day out is a visit to the Rila Monastery fantastic!. As the cost of living is very cheap in Bulgaria, your money will go several times further here than in skiing resorts in other parts of Europe.
How to get there
SOFIA is the main Airport 160km away from the resort.
Transfer time from SOFIA to BANSKO is approx. 2 to 2.5 hours dependent on traffic and time of day.
Various airlines fly to SOFIA: www.skyeurope.com, www.wizzair.com and more recently EasyJet from Gatwick with flights as little as £27.99 incl. taxes!!!
Car hire is available from www.bulgariacarrent.com or www.rentacarbulgaria.com.
Alternatively we can also organise private airport transfers from Sofia to the apartment.
A regular bus service runs from Sofia to Bansko at approx £9 return!

Further details indoors: It has a fully fitted kitchen with oven, microwave, toaster and refrigerator. Dining: Seating for 6. The dining room is furnished in a modern style with dining table and chairs. Eating out in Bulgaria is also extremely good value. In the living room there is an open fire, logs can be provided daily. Ample seating is available including a sofa bed and chair bed. 2 TV's,2 DVD players, Ipod dock and speakers.
There are 2 good size double bedrooms with large wardrobes including extra storage space and tables. The bedrooms benefit from magnificent views. There will be a maid service once a week and the complex has a laundry facility for use. A private ski locker is situated on the ground floor directly below the apartment.
The complex has a spa, hot tub, sauna, internet cafe, bar and restaurant.
A meet and greet service and full final clean and linen change is offered as part of the rental price. A courtesy shuttle bus which runs regularly to the bottom of the gondola and back (approx.10 min shuttle ride).
Further details outdoors: All the facilities of this brand new Spa Complex are available to guests of the apartment (some local charges apply for spa treatments). A great place to enjoy summer sun. It's typically 30oC in the summer, whilst temperatures fall dramatically in the winter ski season. This is truly an all year round holiday destination.
On site facilities include sauna, steam room, massage, hot tub, restaurant, lobby bar, ski room, souvenir shop and internet club(free).
Bansko is approx. 5-6 kms away; there is a courtesy shuttle bus (10 minute bus ride) which runs regularly to the bottom of the gondola and back.
Bansko is the newest and the most rapidly developing ski resorts in Bulgaria. 40 million Euros have been invested, to create a top rate facility with the best equipment, including a new gondola, snow guns, electronic ski pass system etc. There are 15 pistes totalling 70km, including a 16 km run plus cross country and excellent off piste skiing. Bansko is popular with snowboarders; facilities include a half pipe. There is a top class ski school for all levels of ability. The ski season is one of the longest; roughly mid December until the end of April.
The complex is self contained with everything you could want for a fulfilling holiday experience, but for those wishing to explore there are high quality traditional taverns offering fantastic food, but also nightclubs and bars for a livelier evening in Bansko.

You will be met by an English Manager for key handover, they will show you around apartment and complex, clean and change linen on your departure as part of your rental price. They will be available should you require any assistance or advice.
