Home description
This spacious and well located penthouse apartment overlooks the hotel's gardens and has stunning views of the Pirin Mountains and Bansko itself. The apartment can easily accommodate up to 4 persons. It is furnished to a high specification throughout. It contains a large double bedroom, well equipped kitchen, living/dining room, stylish bathroom, lobby and private balcony. The apartment has all the facilities you need, including satellite TV, wireless internet, DVD with USB access for an iPod.
The 4* hotel 'Mountain Paradise by the Walnut Trees' is arguably one of the best in Bansko, as it combines an excellent location (5 minute walk to the Gondola and a similar distance to the centre of town) with some of the best facilities in Bansko. The hotel was completed in late 2007. Its amenities includes indoor heated swimming pool, luxury spa leisure and health facilities and restaurant/bar. It is also one of few hotels in Bansko with a large garden.
The apartment also benefits from association with the adjoining complex Sunrise. Sunrise is a 4* hotel which also has great facilities. So as well as using Mountain Paradise by the Walnut Tree's facilities you can also use Sunrise's, where we have negotiated reductions for our guests.
The apartment is serviced and maintained by a management company who will meet and greet all guests upon arrival and can organise airport transfers (please request details).

The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
The Bansko mountain resort is situated in South Western Bulgaria at the foothills of its largest mountain, the stunning Mt. Pirin. The oustanding Pirin mountain range rises to over 2900m. The Pirin National Park is a UNESCO designated world heritage site. It is noted for its rich variety of flora and fauna, with much of the area being forested and boasting crystal-clear mountain lakes, such as Moratovo and Valeavishki lakes.
Bansko / Glazne area
Skiing and Snowboarding: Bansko is rightly famous for its beautiful tree lined pistes. It is a modern ski resort with state-of-the-art lifts and a well-planned ski area which boasts 160 snow cannons. It caters for all levels of skiers and snow boarders. Bansko has 70km of ski runs and its longest run is 16km. The highest lift rises to 2560m. Snow boarders are lured by the popular halfpipe and the fun park zone. The ski season lasts from December to the end of April. A 2 hour ski lesson will cost you less than £10, and a 6 day lift pass around £90.
Bansko town: This charming town is full of character, reflected in its traditional 16th century architecture and cobblestone streets. However, it is also very well catered for by modern facilities. For further details goto http://bansko.bg/index_en.html. The town attracts visitors with its 120 cultural monuments. It is famous for its fortified and artistically decorated houses, museums and the Bansko School of Art. A very interesting site is the Holy Trinity Church, with its 30 m high bell-tower and clock, splendid murals and woodcarvings.
Eating out: Bansko contains many Mehanas (traditional bulgarian taverns), hotel restaurants and street cafés. The traditional wooden and stone Mehana restaurants are an integral part of the towns charm and character. All Mehanas serve traditional Bulgarian cuisine, as well as local wines and often provide live folk music making for a great evening out. Large beers can be bought for about £1/€1.4 and a three course meal costs approximately £7/€9. We particularly recommend Ethno restaurant which is located on Pirin Street.
Après-ski/nightlife: Evening entertainment in Bansko is great value, with something to suit all tastes. People can while away the evening in the local Mehanas. Alternatively, there are a number of bars and clubs, such as the Buddha Bar and Amnesia, both down Pirin Street, providing a good way to unwind after a long day on the slopes. In the Summer, Bansko plays host to a number of festivals, including the internationally renowed annual Bansko Jazz festival (http://www.banskojazz.com/en).
Shopping and Facilities: There is a large variety of shops in Bansko spread throughout the town. It contains traditional craft shops through to supermarkets and banks. There are also ski and sport shops, such as at the Bansko Royal Towers complex.
Other activities: Bansko is an all season resort, providing wide-ranging outdoor pursuits such as off-road biking, horse riding, hill-walking, mountaineering, golf, paragliding, floodlit ice skating rink.
How to get there
Bansko is serviced from the airports of Sofia, Skopje, Plovdiv, which are all approximately 150 km away. Thessaloniki is also an option being 240km away.

Bansko is a 2-2.5 hour drive from Sofia.

If you prefer we can also arrange inexpensive transfers for you. When you arrive at the airport, your driver will meet you at the arrivals lounge and take you directly to the apartment in Bansko. When you arrive, we will have the place warmed up and give you a brief tour of the apartment before leaving you to enjoy your holiday.
