Home description
This 2nd floor luxurious apartment offers breathtaking views of the Mountains & National Park from its huge balcony.
The apartment features an open plan kitchen/living area with TV, CD player/radio. The kitchen features an electric oven, 2-ring hob, extractor hood and fridge along with all the cooking utensils that you have at home. There are two single beds in the bedroom and a pull out sofa in the lounge area, sleeping up to four in total. The dining area consists of a table and chairs. The bathroom is immaculate with integrated hairdryer and power shower.
In the evenings you can relax in the warmth of the sitting room watching TV or listen to a CD while staring up at the snow-peaked mountains. Some of you may prefer to have a candle lit meal in the dining area.
This was the original 4-star complex in Bansko, with a prime location just 300m from the Gondola and featuring a luxury spa with pool, hammam, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. Massage treatments are available. There is also a cognac and cigar bar and another bar over-looking the pool with its beautiful mosaics.
This makes the perfect ski apartment but is also an ideal summer base for mountaineering, fishing, mountain biking, paragliding and other activities.
The apartment is newly built to a high specification and we keep it in very good condition. An English Rep will be on hand throughout your stay to welcome you and deal with any problems you may encounter.

The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Nestled in the southwest corner of Bulgaria are the compact Pirin Mountains(2585 sq km), named after the Slavic god of thunder. Over the centuries, Greeks, Turks and Slavs have been attracted to these mountains because of the mineral waters and 186 pristine lakes, often partially frozen in winter. The highest point is Mt Virin(2915m). The area is now a world heritage site ans wis well served throughout the entire year by a serie of mountain lodges offering cheap accommodation to backpackers or ski-tourers. I have spent 5 days discovering the beauty of the hills, eventually ending up in Melnik, a wel known wine producing village set in amazing sand cliffs.
The gateway to the Pirin National Park, which is only a few minutes walk from the Tamplier complex, is permanently open and free to enter and is Bulgaria's largest at 40,447 hectares. It was placed on Unesco's list of World Heritage Sites in 1983 to protect the varied and unique lanbrings dscapes, 1100 species of flora, 102 types of birds and 42 species of mammals, including wolves, wild boar and deer.
The snow record is excellent, and often lasts from November until mid May (those looking for end of season skiing should consult local websites to check that the lifts are still operating) however the summer months, (end of May - beginning of October), are usually very warm and sunny, the greek border is only a short drive away.
Bansko / Tamplier area
Once just a quiet medieval village, Bansko has been subject to massive government and foreign investment over the last few years, and now features the newest and most state of the art Gondola ski lift out of any European ski resort. Whilst it still cannot compete with the Alpes for sheer range of skiing, you will be impressed by the technology, lack of queues and the quality of the pistes. Having skied myself all over Europe, I would rate Bansko as being one of the best resorts for beginners, families or advanced skiers looking for some off-piste action. The snow cannons and lifts are state of the art, and lessons are extremely cheap.Try the unique 7km ski run all the way from the pistes to the village!
A short walk down the hill from Tamplier and you find yourself in the old part of the town with its winding lanes, donkey-drawn carts and traditional Mexhanas, serving delicious fresh salads and local delicacies. There seems to be a market most days in Bansko and as soon as the sun comes out, the locals full the bars and ice cream parlour and their children play in the fountains of the main square. There are more than 150 cultural monuments, including many from the Bulgarian national revival period, to discover in Bansko.
Most of the shops and cafes are located along the pedestrian mall, "ul Tsar Simeon", along with banks, post office and ATMs and an internet cafe.
Apres ski in Bansko is superb, with everything from modern restaurants to trendy bars and nightclubs. The best restaurants though are any one of the literally 100s of "mexhanas" or taverns found in the old town which provide traditional Bulgarian cuisine at exceptionally low prices. Prepare to experience some real Bulgarian hospitality and culture at these mexhanas, live music is often on offer. Expect to pay no more than 8 Euros for a two course meal with drinks!
The summer months offer many activities such as walking, mountain biking, fishing or swiming in any one of the many natural lakes in the mountains. Adventure Sports (located on the main street) offer hiking, picnic, bear-watching, fishing and paragliding packages. The bears are to be found in the 'Dancing Bear Preservation Centre', an area of outstanding beauty that has been set aside as a home for former dancing bears rescued from unscrupulous circuses and street entertainers.
An International Jazz Festival takes place around the 7th-15th of August and is a big summer attraction in Bansko with artists coming from all over Bulgaria and abroad. The atmosphere at this event is incredible with young and old all enjoying the music and making the most of the beer stands and food stalls.
How to get there
