The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region

The mountains of Bulgaria are a great destination for skiers and non-skiers alike, in summer and winter. Although most people come to Bansko to ski the slopes, there's plenty to do even if you're not so keen on the white stuff. Within a short drive, you will find historical and cultural delights such as the town of Melnik, the Rila Monastery, Trigrad, and the village of Kovachevitza. In summer, the area offers excellent hiking as well as outdoor activities such as golf and horse riding.

The Bansko / Bansko Royal Towers area

Bansko is now Bulgaria's no. 1 ski and snowboard resort with 65 kms of well maintained pistes. The snow record in Bansko is excellent but there are also activities off the pistes to be enjoyed. There's a fantastic mountain fun park, a town centre open air ice-rink, ten pin bowling, casinos and apres ski. There are around Mehanas (local tavernas with superb service and atmosphere) and several night clubs open til dawn.

The International Jazz Festival, inaugurated in 1998, takes place in Bansko every August. For this week local people and jazz of the town enjoy the musical talent of some 200 musicians from dozens of different countries that for these 5 days turn Bansko into the musical capitol of Europe.

Bansko's summer offers Jazz festivals, Golf Courses, Bird Watching, Mountain Biking, Trekking and Horse Riding and a visit wouldn't be complete without seeing The Four Paws Bear sanctuary and the Rila Monastery.
